Farlling Dominated Bedford Five Dollar Night
3 min readIn the most dominating performance in recent memory, Taylor Farlling completely devastated the limited field at Bedford Friday night. It was Farlling’s first Bedford victory of the season and came on the track’s annual post Fair five dollar night.
In other action in the big six event program, Kyle Weyant snared his first ever Semi Late event. Drake Troutman took the EMod race and Dalton Ritchey was the Pure Stock winner. Ryan Peer began and ended the evening with wins, snagging both the Fair week makeup and also the regularly scheduled 4 Cylinder events.
A pair of eights led the Limited field to the green as Travis Wilson led the first lap. But as Wilson’s car began to fail, Taylor Farlling took over to lead lap three as Wilson dropped out. Wilson’s departure left George Dixon to chase Farlling. He closed on the leader for several laps as the pair drew away from the rest of the field. But Dixon began falling back around lap 10 and with the car sounding off key, he retired on lap 12.
That left Farlling well ahead of Devin Weyandt, who had started eighth but had risen to second with the drop out. But Farlling was long gone by then, stretching it out to win by over a half lap at the finish. Weyandt was second, followed by Dan Zechman, Jim McBee and Curtis Heath. Dixon won the heat.
The Semi Late event pretty much looked like the last race for the class with Kyle Weyant leading and Greg Hainsey in hot pursuit. A couple quick cautions allowed Brian Weyandt Jr. and Bob Jay to close and the last half of the race featured a four car battle at the front. Weyant captured second place on lap 13 and although he used up the leader’s bumper on the last lap, he settled for second at the line. Hainsey, and Jay trailed under a blanket at the finish. Jay and Chubby Childers won the heats.
Ryan Beckett led the first EMod lap before spinning in turn three. That gave the lead to Drake Troutman. Mike Altobelli Jr. gave chase but he retired on lap 4, allowing Troutman to lead to the finish. First time visitor Jimmy Jessmer, Darrick Deusenberry and Jerry Foster trailed. Foster and Troutman won the heats.
Dalton Ritchey, who chased Barry Weyandt for the duration at the Fair event, improved one spot in the Pure Stock event. He led from the pole while Kyle Deneen and Josh Frankenberry went at it every lap for second. With his competition focused on each other, Ritchey was able to cruise away for his second win of the year. Deneen held off Frankenberry while Travis Group and Tyke Musselman completed the top 5. Group won the heat.
Dustin Kinser led the first few laps of the first 4 Cylinder event the makeup from the Sunday Fair race, before Ryan Peer shot by. From that point Peer rushed to his fourth win of the season, ahead of Kinser, Wayne Brenize and Todd Price. Peer and Josh Ringer won the heats last Sunday.
In the regularly scheduled event it took Peer only two laps to rush from eighth to take the lead from Jay Talley. Wayne Brenize came from dead last to run second behind Peer, Kinser, Travis Heavner and Ringer completed the top 5. Peer and Todd Price won the heats.
