Bowser Picks Up $3,000 With A 410 Victory At Thunder Mountain

Knox Dale- With no rain in the forecast for once, fans gathered at Thunder Mountain Speedway for a night of 410 sprint car racing. First on the card for the evening were the 410 sprints for twenty five laps. Carl Bowser in the 11 and Chad Kemanah in the K4 lead the field to the green. With two laps in, Bowser holds the lead as Aj Flick in the 2 moved into second before the 28 of Brian Wright gets sideways in turn two. On the restart, The 91 of Cody Womer slows on the front stretch. The second restart seen the 22 of Brandon Spithaler move into fifth and Jack Sodeman Jr move into sixth before the 38 of Leyton Wagner slows on the front stretch. The third restart gets underway before the 99 of Kyle Colwell tips his car sideways to bring out the red flag. As Colwell was ok, sprint car officials made the call to have a fuel stop with a three minute window period. After crews were done with fuel and cars were pushed off, the green flag flew once again. Sodeman challenges the 29 of Dan Shetler for sixth before Sodeman took over the position. Russ Sansosti in the 23S ran second as the 13 of Brandon Matus and Aj Flick battled for fourth. With three laps to go, Sodeman Jr passes the 22 of Brandon Spithaler for the fifth position. At the end, it was Carl Bowser who had a far lead on the field, to collect the checkers for the feature event. Bowser was followed by 2) Russ Sansosti 3) Brandon Matus 4) Aj Flick 5) Jack Sodeman Jr 6) Brandon Spithaler 7) Dan Shetler 8) Jordan Guiler 9) Johnny Garvin 10) Sye Lynch 11) Lee Jacobs 12) Dan Kuriger 13) George Englert 14) Darin Gallagher 15) Jared McFarland 16) CJ Jones 17) Brian Wright 18) Brent Matus 19) Kyle Colwell 20) Alan Free 21) Leyton Wagner 22) Chad Kemanah 23) Steve Cousins 24) Cody Womer. DNS= 44 Joe McEwen. Heat winners were Carl Bowser, Jack Sodeman Jr, Jordan Guiler, and Russ Sansosti.
Second feature for the evening were the Legend Powersports Super Late Models. Bob Dorman in the 19 and Paul Kot in the 36 made up the front row for twenty five laps. On the start, the 28D of Del Rougeux gets sideways in turn three to bring out the yellow. On the restart, The 27 of Michael Lake and the 46 of Tom Merryman get together in turn four to bring out another caution. On the next restart, Kot gets out to the early lead before the 94 of Charlie Powell slows on the backstretch with problems as Bob Dorman hits the backend of Powell hard collecting many others to bring out the red flag. Charlie Powell, Bob Dorman, Kyle Knapp, David Scott, Matt Lux, and Tom Merryman were all involved with heavy damage to all of their cars. Once red flag conditions lifted, the field was down to six cars. On the restart, Nate Brady in the 77 spins in one to bring out another caution. The next green flag came out as Paul Kot moved back out to the lead with Michael Lake in the 27 running in second and Chris Hackett in the 33 moving into third. Del Rougeux and Tom Merryman battled for fourth before leader Paul Kot slows in turn three, ending his night. On the restart, Lake moved out to the lead as Skip Lindemuth moved into fourth. A few laps later, Brady in the 77 slows on the backstretch with a blown engine. The next restart seen Rougeux blow a right rear tire ending his night as well. The last restart seen two cars, the 27 of Lake and the 33 of Chris Hackett. With five laps to go and a king of the hill type finish, Michael Lake went on to win the feature event. Lake was followed by 2) Chris Hackett 3) Del Rougeux 4) Nate Brady 5) Skip Lindemuth 6) Tom Merryman 7) Paul Kot 8) Charlie Powell 9) David Scott 10) Kyle Knapp 11) Matt Lux. DNS= 20 Doug Eck/ 11H Gale Huey/ 11V Curtis Teats/ 14 Dan Angelicchio/ 84 Andrew Wylie. DQ=19 Bob Dorman. Heat winners were Bob Dorman, Paul Kot, and Michael Lake.
Third and final event for the evening were the Dunlap Lawn & Garden Front Wheel Drive Four Cylinders. The Huber boys of Jeff in the 42 and Joe in the 8H, made up the front row for fifteen laps. Before a lap was made, Jack Phillipson in the 77J slows on the frontstretch to bring out the yellow flag. On the restart, Jeff Huber in the 42 jumped out to the lead as Curtis Money in the 33M moved into second. The battle for third heated up as Rob Williams in the 9MM, Chad Greeley in the 27, and Bill Fuchs in the 10 go three wide for three laps before Williams took over the position. Bill Fuchs in the 10 took fourth from Chad Greely as Joe Huber in the 8H battled Fuchs for the fourth position. At the line, it was Jeff Huber who was been red hot all season, who went on to collect the checkers for the evening.
