4 min read

A terrific night of action was presented at Tyler County Speedway as the Hometown Racing Association would honor all those that keep us safe on First Responders Night. A picture perfect evening would await race fans and an excellent racing surface would greet eager racers to America’s Baddest Bullring. A well ran highly entertaining show featuring the popular Autograph Night and First Responders Parade at intermission plus an eight feature program would take the final checkered flag at 10:30.

Picking up his second win of the season in the J&R Excavating Super Late Model model main event aboard a brand new XR-1 Rocket was Jacksonburg, WV’s Travis Brown. It would not come easy as the talented racer would have to withstand a hard charging Chuck Kimble, who found something to his liking on the tracks high side late in the race but would just run out of laps for his bid at the win. Following Brown across the stripe was Kimble, Kyle Thomas, Brian Baumberger and Tyler Stutler.

In what may be the race of the year, the UMP Modified division would see Rex Frohnapfel blast from the front row and take control of the 20 lap affair. Hot on his wheels was a determined Cody Brightwell, the lead duo would control the event with neither having graced victory lane at the Bullring previously. Brightwell would continue to work the race long leader of the Mark Robinson owned 21R machine. As the race entered the closing stages Brightwell continued to pressure Frohnapfel on the bottom of the speedway and as the impressive duo took the white rag, Brightwell would venture to the speedways topside. As the pair zoomed into turn 3 and 4 for the checkered they were side by side, Brightwell high and Frohnapfel low contact would be made down the frontstretch between the two and a photo finish across the stripe. Cody Brightwell would grab the thrilling win by 00.035 over Rex Frohnapfel, an impressive 3rd place run for Brian Clegg, Chad Smith, and Doug Carson. Brightwell of Middlebourne, pilots the Carson Motorsports #79 and the win was his first in the UMP Modified division.

Another thrilling event in the Appalachian Mineral Title Company FASTRAK Late Model division that would see a caution free event. Youngsters Hayden Jacobs and Braeden Dillinger would lead the field to green but would get blitzed on the initial start by wiley veteran Donnie Dotson who would assume the point. Meanwhile behind the West Union, WV racer talented youngster Trey Watson would set his sights on the leader. The duo would race the event thru heavy lapped traffic with Watson making his move coming out of turn 4 in the races late stages to go onto secure his first win of the season at the Bullring. Kyle Thomas would parlay a last lap pass into a runner-up spot ahead of Dotson, AJ Spagnuola and Braeden Dillinger.

The Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmod main event would also roll off caution free as Travis Thomas would take an early lead followed by cousin and division point leader Danny Thomas. A great battle between the top two would wow fans as they would enter lapped traffic. As great as the battle was for the lead and unbelievable war was being waged for positions three thru seven. With two laps to go, the driver of the #18 machine would slip up just enough in turn one to allow the driver of the 7JR Danny Thomas to soar past and collect his sixth win of the season. Following the pair of Thomas’s across the line was Tim Pennell, Daniel Muldrew and Mick Baker.

Jeff Fornash would park the #16 modlite in victory lane after misfortune would strike early race leader Daniel Eddy. Following Fornash across the line was John Cogar, Shawn Kernan, Ryan Robey and Joe McFee.

In the Bullring Bomber division it was Jason Tidd aboard the ERT machine picking up the win ahead of last weeks winner Mike Todd, Timothy Harlan, Dalton Goode and Sierra Gutierrez.

Jake Casto and Ryan Hare would notch a pair of Jenkins Auto Parts MWRA Main Events kicking off the show.
