Hardy & Claar Share Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model Features At Dog Hollow Speedway

STRONGSTOWN, PA (June 29, 2019) – Stephen City, Va’s Kyle Hardy and Imler’s Shawn Claar shared Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models Saturday night at Dog Hollow Speedway. Other winners were Jeff Sweeney, of Marion Center, in the Iron Horse Salvage 358 Semi Lates and Duncansville’s Brad Benton won for the third time in the AMSOIL Pure Stocks. First time visitor Kevin Criswell, of Wellsburg, WV, won the DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinder feature.

The first feature of the night was the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model makeup feature from June 1. Shawn Claar took over the top spot after leader Billy Eash stopped with a flat tire. Claar took over and went on to win his career first SLM win at Dog Hollow in his Ford powered machine. Clate Copeman, John Wayne Weaver, Mike Laughard and Billy Eash were the top five.

In the regular scheduled feature it looked like Claar was going to win his second of the night. Claar started on the pole and took the lead at the start with Billy Eash in tow. Hardy came from his fifth starting spot to take second on lap two. Hardy dogged Claar for 21 laps before taking the lead. The following lap Eash took over second. Hardy led the final three laps for fourth career win at the track. Eash settled for second over Clate Copeman, Joe Petyak and Mike Laughard. Eash won the heat.

Robert Cossell was looking for his first win in the Iron Horse Salvage 358 Semi Lates. Cossell and Nate Smith were battling for the top spot. Cossell led the first twelve. Smith then led the next two before Cossell went back out front. Smith led lap 15 then the two made contact taking each other out. This turned the lead over to Jeff Sweeney who led the final three laps for his first 358 feature win this season. Bernie Whiteford, Jr. was second over Chad Helman, Caleb Whiteford and Shane Nihart. Completing the top ten were John Wayne Weaver, Vern Ward, Robert Cossell, Nate Smith and Bill Burns. Cossell won the lone heat.

Duke Davidson was the initial leader in the AMSOIL Pure Stocks. Davidson, looking to go two straight, led the first five laps before breaking. Brad Benton was up next and he led the final ten for his third win of the season. Mike Ball, Corey Jones, Joe Kephart and Duke Davidson were the top five. Benton was also the heat winner.

Three time winner, Chuck Dizzle, was out front for the first six laps of the DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinder feature. Third place starter, and first time visitor, Kevin Criswell passed Dizzle to lead the final six laps for the win. Following the WV driver across the line were Dizzle, Pat Brehm, Dylan Young, Brooks Kaufman, Cody Young, Jesse Matney, Bill Eckenrode, Jamie Noel and Brad Lemonovich. Taking heat wins were Dizzle and Brooks Kaufman.
