Penn-Ohio ProStocks At Eriez Speedway This Sunday
3 min readHammett, PA (June 28, 2019): — Sunday night at Eriez will feature the Homak-Curtze Food Service Penn-Ohio ProStocks in a $1000 to win special, the biggest purse for the year for the local drivers. The New Motors Super Late Models will not be in competition but the Bonnell’s Collision Center RUSH Late Models, Waterford Hotel Outlaw Modifieds, Johnson’s Car Care and Collision Economods, and the L & D Tree Services Challengers all will compete in a normal card of heats and features.
The Homak Penn-Ohio ProStocks will be joined by the Curtze Food Service Street Stocks. For the Penn-Ohio series this will be the third event on their schedule for 2109. Tim Bish and Chris Schneider are the two winners thus far. In points, only the Michaels Mercer Raceway was a points event so Bish is the points leader with Tim Deutsch second over Randy Wyant, Rusty Moore, and Bill Hurrellbrink filling out the top five. Although no Curtze Food Service Eriez points will be awarded to Street Stock entries, Eriez points leaders expected to be contending for the win are two-time winner John Boardman and defending champion, former champion Chris McGuire, Gary Fisher, Joshua Seippel, and Shane Applebee. McGuire and Fisher both have a win this season.
Max Blair has won all three events in the in the Bonnell’s RV and Truck Center RUSH Late Models. In the points chase Blair leads by 22 points over former champion Kyle Zimmerman, Scott Gurdak, defending champion Jason Genco, and Breyton Santee. The RUSH Late Model will compete in a twenty-lap main event.
The Waterford Hotel Outlaw E-Mods will also be competing in a twenty-lap feature. Gary Eicher, with two wins on the season, leads the season standings with a 93-point lead over defending champion Troy Johnson. Dennis Lunger is another fifty points back in third with Randy Hall another nineteen points back and Dan Davies, 70 markers from fourth, rounding out the top five.
The standings for the Johnson’s Car Care and Collision Economods show two time winner Kyle Miller leading defending champion Matt Alexander by a massive 130-point margin! The spread back to third is even bigger, at 162-points back to Jason Brightman. Then it’s only 26-points back to Kyle Layton and another 89 back to fifth running Gary Olson. Eric Wilson, thirteenth in points, collected the win on June 2 while Ty Rhoades, currently fifteenth, won last Sunday night.
Zack Eller, with one win, leads the L &D Tree Service Challengers by 171 points over Jessica Harvey, not yet a feature winner in 2019. Opening night winner Todd Hanlon is third, seventeen points behind Harvey. A mere two points behind Hanlon is Chris Horton with Tyler Walters trailing Horton by eight points. Rob Williams was the winner June 2 and Casey Burch went to Victory Lane last Sunday.
Eriez Speedway is located on Sampson Road, just off Lake Pleasant Road in the town of Hammett, PA, 3 miles south of Interstate 90. Take Route 8 South from Interstate 90 Exit 29 and follow the signs starting in Hammett. Admission for this special event is $15.00 for Adults; $10 for seniors; kids $6; 5 and under free. A family pass for two adults and up to four kids under 16 is available for $35.00. Pit admission is $30 for all ages. Fan gates open at 4:30 PM and pit gates open at 3:30 PM with the first green flag shown at 6:30 PM.
