Kristyak Gets RUSH Modified Win At Raceway 7

Conneaut, OH (June 21, 2019): The first day of summer at Raceway 7 featured the RUSH Modifieds for their second appearance here in 2019. Rob Kristyak came home the winner after finishing second in their first appearance last week. In regular weekly action Mike Potosky collected his second consecutive Bonnell’s Collision Center E-Mod win, Paul Davis won his first Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stock win of the season, Jacob Eucker won his first-ever Raceway 7 feature, and defending champion Dillon Speer won his second consecutive Sunnyside Farm Transit Mini Stock feature, his third of the season. The Evergreen Lake Park Campground RUSH Late Models were not in action.

The features started with the Sunnyside Farm Transit Mini Stocks sporting an all-female front row of Emily Stoyer on the inside and Jessica Harvey outside. Stoyer lead from the green but Harvey got the lead before one lap was complete and held it through lap two, which featured three-wide racing in turns three and four. Trisha Jacklett slowed in turn four at the end of two laps slowing the race under yellow with Stoyer leading Harvey, defending champion Dillon Speer, 2017 champion Joe Campbell, and Zack Eller. After a caution for debris on lap three the top three were Stoyer, Speer, and Campbell. On the back straight on lap four Speer took over at the front with Campbell also getting by Stoyer, Eller coming to fourth, and Lane Reinwald coming up to fifth. By halfway, points leader Mark Lawrence was third from eighth on the grid, Eller fourth, and Reinwald fifth. Yellow flew again at six complete when Zoey Gill spun in turn three. A lap nine caution resulted from damage to Harvey’s car, a missing right door sitting in turn three. The final laps were caution free with Speer winning over Campbell, Eller, Stoyer, and Harvey.

The Bonnell’s Auto Sales Economods were led to Mark Osburn’s green flag by J J Bumetzrieder and Mark Titus with Titus leading from the start. Judson Fell spun coming out of four before the pack completed a lap with Jim Muma and Edward Snyder spinning to avoid contact. The next time the start was good with Titus leading Jacob Eucker, Kyle Miller, Herbie Loomis, and Will Pinckney at the end of lap one. Defending champion Eric Reinwald moved into fourth at lap two after starting eleventh. Billy Cunningham spun in turn four at two complete. After another caution in lap three for Bumetzrieder, stopped in turn four, Kyle Miller came into the top five at four complete. At five complete third-starting Jacob Eucker was the leader over twelfth-starting Matt Alexander, Reinwald, Miller, and the most recent winner, Nate Young. Justin Chaddock and Kyle Reinwald got together on the front straight at lap seven with Reinwald spinning. Yet another caution was only a lap later when Brian Toto and Jarett Young got hooked together on the back straight. At the halfway point it was Eucker, Eric Reinwald, Alexander, Miller, and Nate Young the top five. Lap eleven was the next caution when Alan Sousa spun in turn four. Eric Reinwald and Eucker were side by side at the stripe at the conclusion of lap twelve with Reinwald slightly in front, then Eucker leading by .669 sec at thirteen and starting to open a lead that would be 1.074 seconds at the checkers over Eric Reinwald, Alexander, Miller, and Nate Young. For Eucker, who just graduated from high school as his class Valedictorian, it was his first-ever Raceway 7 win.

The RUSH Modifieds were brought to green by Jessica Kriegisch and Gary Haupt with fourth-starting Chas Wolbert, last week’s winner, coming to the lead at turn two but it would be Kristyak at the front at the completion of lap one when yellow slowed the action. Chelsie Kriegisch led lap two with Kristyak now second over Wolbert, David Kalb Jr, and Tony Tatgenhorst. At halfway it was Chelsie Kriegisch, Kristyak, Kalb Jr, Wolbert, and Jim Rasey. Lap twelve saw caution flying when Brandon Albert spun in turn three, eliminating Kriegisch’s 1.6 second lead. At lap thirteen her lead was only .003 second. A lap later Kristyak had a .228 lead but at turn three on lap sixteen Kriegisch got back by, only to lose it when Kristyak came back to the lead at the stripe. Kriegisch wasn’t done yet, again getting next to Kristyak in turns one and two, but unable to complete the pass. One more caution flew at lap eighteen, again for Albert, again spun, this time in turn four. Kristyak then went on to the win over Kriegisch, Rasey, Kalb Jr, and Wolbert.

Percy McDonald and Casey Bowers brought the Bonnell’s Collision Center E-Mods to green with McDonald leading at the start but it was Bowers showing the way at the end of lap one. Mike Kinney pulled to the infield at one lap but yellow was shown. Then, on lap two Jim Plance spun in turn two. For the restart it was Bowers, Jesse Gould, last week’s winner Mike Potosky, Percy McDonald, and defending class champion Troy Johnson. Johnson took over fourth at lap four. Bowers had a .722 second lead at lap five but that disappeared when Josh McDonald stopped against the turn two guardrail, victim of a broken driveshaft. Gary Eicher advanced to fourth at six laps. Bowers’ lead was down to .199 second at lap eight then Potosky went to the outside and came by lead by .091 at nine laps. At halfway the order was Potosky, Bowers, Eicher, Gould, and Johnson. When the checkers fell Potosky had his second consecutive win with Bowers second, Eicher third, Gould fourth, and Johnson fifth.

The final feature of the evening was the Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stocks with veterans Paul Davis and Bill Watson leading the charge to the first turn. By the time the field reached turn two Jason Longwell had joined the battle for the lead, making it three wide through the turn. Unfortunately Kyle Schreckengost slowed to a stop at the pit entrance, meaning a restart. After the green Davis led lap one over Watson and Longwell. Douglas Eck and Art Edwards spun together in turns three and four but kept going with no yellow. At four complete it was Davis, Watson, Larry Kugel, points leader, two time 2019 winner, Pat Fielding, and Tim Deutsch. Gary Miller stopped in turn two for yellow. At the end of five it was Watson and Kugel side by side for second. The final caution of the night was for Brian Lacey, stopped at the pit entrance at lap nine. Davis went on to the win over Kugel, Deutsch, Fielding, and Jamie Duncan. In Victory Lane Davis noted his car was 25-years old!
