Blazavich & Lee Share Suoer Late Wins At Dog Hollow

STRONGSTOWN, PA (August 18, 2018) – Dave Blazavich won his fourth Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature of the season Saturday night at Dog Hollow. Jon Lee won the July 21st makeup feature for the Supers and also won his 9th straight in the 358 Semi Lates. Colin Casale won his career first feature in the RUSH Crate Late Models. DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinder features went to Pat Brehem with Dustin Gibbons taking the Rookie 4. In the AMSOIL Pure Stocks Brad Benton won for the second time this season.

The first feature of the night was for the July 21 make up for the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models. When the green flag dropped Shawn Claar took off from his outside front row starting spot. Claar was being chased by Clate Copeman. Michael Lake took over the chase on lap five. Claar was leading on lap 16 when the transmission blew hand the lead over to Lake. On the restart Lake’s motor blew now handing the top spot to Jon Lee. Mahaffey’s Lee then held off Alex Ferree the final eight laps or his third win this season. Ferree, Copeman, Robbie Black, Dave Blazavich, Kirk Baker, John Wayne Weaver, John Oaks, Tom Jobe and Michael Lake were the top ten.

In the 358 Semi Lates it was the same old song as Jon Lee led all 18 laps. Lee held off a fast closing Todd English for his record setting eighth straight feature win. English came up one spot short for second ahead of Robert Cossell, Jarid Ivory, Bernie Whiteford, Sr., Chad Helman, Cheyenne Reed, Eric Lucas, Jason Mullen and Ryan Caldwell. Heats were won by Cossell and English.

Cresson’s Colin Casale used his pole starting spot in the RUSH Crate Late Models to pull off his career first feature win. Casale led all 20 laps and beat out friend Joe Moyer for the exciting feat. Behind Casale and Moyer were first time visitor from Winchester, VA, Devin Brannon, Michael Ott and Clate Copeman. Moyer won the only heat.

Duncansville’s Brad Benton out ran Anthony Monteparte in to turn one at the start of the 15-lap AMSOIL Pure Stocks. Benton led nine laps before a yellow appeared. Lap ten showed Mike Benton the leader before Brad was back out in front. Brad Benton led the final five laps for his second win this season. Amber Mills was second over Duke Davidson, Anthony Monteparte, Jim Decker, Makinna Pearce, Ron Benton, Mike Ball, Adam Fulton and Marc Whetstone, Sr. Brad Benton and Duke Davidson were the heat winners.

Up next was the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Lates for their feature. It was all Dave Blazavich from the pole starting spot. The Marion Center native held of Matt Lux to earn his fourth of the season. Behind Lux at the finish it was Alex Ferree, Jeremy Ohl, John Wayne Weaver, Kirk Baker, Tom Decker, Jr., Jerry Redden, Robbie Black and Gale Huey. The three heats for the 25 car field went to Black, Clate Copeman and Blazavich.

Chuck Dizzle took command at the beginning of the 20-lap DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinder Special. Dizzle controlled the first nine laps before Winder’s Pat Brehm, who was making his first start of the season, passed for the lead. Brehm led the final 11 laps for the $500 to win event. Jack Theys was second over Mike Phillipson, David Needham, Noah Swank, Bill Eckenrode, Cody Young, Larry Weltz, David Gacka and Mike Potter. The 30 car field saw Brehm, Cody Young and Dannie Mullen winning qualifying heats.

Heilwood’s Dustin Gibbons passed Cory Price on lap four for the lead and win in the Rookie 4 Cylinders. Gibbons won over Lance Marshall, Price, Austin Fedder and Kelly Clark. Price won the heat race.

Stephanie Mayes led the final two laps to win the 4 Cylinder Powder Puff feature.
