Dan Davies Wins UEMS Modified Special At Dog Hollow

STRONGSTOWN, PA (July 7, 2018) – Warren, PA’s Dan Davies scored the $1000 Victory in the first-ever appearance of the UEMS Modifieds at Dog Hollow Speedway. The new U4CS Mini Stock Series held their first race and Salix driver Brady Miller held the $500 paycheck. George Dixon, Jr. won for the first time at DHS in the Steel Block Late Models. Ryan Newman (Street Stocks) and AJ Bast (600cc Micros) were both first time winners at the speedway. Repeat winners were Chase Metheney (270cc Micros) and Amber Mills (AMSOIL Pure Stocks).

The UEMS Modifieds made their first visit to the Dog Hollow Speedway. Dan Davies used his outside front row starting spot to take the lead at the start of the 25-lap feature. Davies had pressure from Carl McKinney the first few laps. McKinney chased Davies until a restart on lap twenty saw Josh Ferry work past for second. Ferry stayed within a few car lengths but could not pass the flying Davies. Ferry had to settle for second followed by Mike Kinney, McKinney and John Boyd. Davies and Kinney were the heat winners.

The 20-lap 4 Cylinder feature was the first event for the U4CS Mini Stock Series. 22 cars were on hand. Chuck Dizzle led the first two laps before Chris Anderson took over the top spot. Anderson was pulling away when he suddenly started to slow. Brady Miller became the new leader on lap eight and drove off to his second career win and a $500 paycheck. Miller’s car had a brand new engine in it after blowing up on Tuesday night. Second went to Kolton Wagner over Casey Burch, David Needham, Anthony Varner, Melvin McCartney, John Costa, Matt Weltz, Skyler, Eckenrode and Brett Bingaman. Qualifying winners were Anderson, Wagner and Miller.

Devin Weyandt led Jon Lee at the start of the 20-lap Steel Block A-Main. Weyandt was in control until a restart on lap six. As the race restarted Weyandt push high in turn one opening the door for Hesston’s George Dixon, Jr. Dixon was not to be denied in picking up his first-ever Dog Hollow checker leading the final fourteen laps. Weyandt was second ahead of Rick Strong, Dan Smeal, Jeff Sweeney, Jon Lee, Paul Ivory, Tom Decker, Jr., Travis Wilson and Tom Jobe. Heats were won by Weyandt and Lee.

Amber Mills won for the second time this season in the 15-lap AMSOIL Pure Stocks. Mills, who did double duty, led every lap to earn the win. Mike Benton, Duke Davidson, Marc Whetstone, Sr. and Bob Helsel were the top five. Ron Benton and Mills won the heats.

Chase Metheney is getting very familiar with victory lane at Dog Hollow. The teenager led all 15-laps for his third victory this season in the 270cc Micro Sprints. Metheney was chased to the finish by Ryan Beatty, Noah Wirginis, Jeffrey Weaver and Johnny Walker, Weaver and Beatty won the two heats.

The 600cc Micro Sprints was all AJ Bast. Bast stayed out front all 15-laps for the win in the first-ever appearance for the 600’s. Jeffrey Weaver was second over Shelby Rowles, Jonathan Jones and Nick Krchelich. Weaver won the lone heat.
