The 4th Annual MEGA Weekend Fast Approches
4 min readAmerica’s Baddest Bullring is about to welcome the best fans in motorsports for a three-day festival of speed known as the 4th Annual Mega 100. A plethora of action, purse money and good times await this weekend June 28-30th at the Tyler County Speedway as the Hometown Racing Association rolls off the biggest Modified show on the East Coast.
It all gets started in earnest on Thursday Night, June 28th as a special kickoff night will feature the first ‘Sanction Shootout’ and the ‘Contenders Race’. The $1,000 to win, pill draw show will feature ten invited racers from all the different sanctioning bodies comprising the Mega 100. From the Renegades of Dirt, American Modified Series, UEMS, Dirt Cup, AMRA and track points, a stacked field will test the highbanks of the ‘Bullring’ in the invitational event. Also on the agenda will be the ‘Contenders Race’, a unique $600 to win main event for any competitor who has never parked in victory lane aboard a modified or late model. Somebody will pick up their first ever feature win in the ‘Contenders Race’. Also night 1 of the Mega will see the STARS Modlites run a $500 to win complete show. Plus an open practice session and DJ Entertainment will kick off the weekend festivities Tyler County style.
The ‘Bullring’ gets serious on Night #2 as the ante is upped in a big way as the Super Late Models of the ULMS invade for a whopping $7,000 to win complete show on Friday Night, June 29th. A stacked field of the regions best including Jared Miley, Steve Casebolt, Max Blair, Derek Doll and Tyler Carpenter just to name a few will vie for the 1st place trophy. A tune-up night for the mods if you will, as the best of the open wheel warriors will square off in the rescheduled but highly sought after ‘Let It Ride 55’ paying $3,055 to win. A very prestigious event in its own right. Also on the can’t miss card will be round #2 for the STARS Modlites as another $500 to win show plus the EDGE Hotmods partake in preliminaries while the Sport Compacts run a regular complete show. Plus the youth league of auto racing, the MWRA Mini Wedges will kick the evening off with a non-points event.
The main event on Saturday, June 30th will see the culmination of three fun filled days in the Mountain State as we reward the modified division with one of the richest purses in open wheel modified racing. The 60 lap Mega feature will see a record $15,000 up for grabs as the nations best will look to etch their name in history. Who will it be defending race winner Taylor Cook, Jacob Hawkins, Kyle Strickler, couple of Midwesterners such as Mike McKinney, Trent Young, Jacob Poel or a Northerner invaders such as Joel Watson, Rich Michael Jr., or a host of local hotshoes defending the home turf like Shawn Jett, Daniel Hill or Chris Basich. Also part of the show will see the ULMS back for another night of action as a $2,000 to win first place prize awaits along with the $1,000 to win STARS finale plus complete $1,200 to win FASTRAK Late Model program, EDGE Hotmod feature, Sport Compact show and MWRA Mini Wedges.
