Jon Lee Doubles Up At Dog Hollow Winning Supers & 358’s
3 min readSTRONGSTOWN, PA (June 2, 2018) – Mahaffey’s Jon Lee scored wins in the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models and the 358 Semi Lates at Dog Hollow Saturday night. Braeden Dillinger got the monkey off his back in winning the RUSH Crate Lates while South Fork’s Jack Theys took the DM Craig Fabrication & Welding Services 4 Cylinders. Levi Spinneweber (Super 6 Late Models) and Duke Davidson (AMSOIL Pure Stocks) became the first two drivers to score repeat wins.
In the 358 Semi Late feature it was all Jon Lee. Lee led all 15 laps to claim his first win of the season. Lee was able to hold off Josh Jacoby, Robert Cossell, Ryan Caldwell and Bernie Whiteford, Jr. Jacoby and Cossell were the heat winners.
It took a few restarts to get the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late feature underway. Dan Angelicchio took off at the start of the 25-lap event. Angelicchio led the first 13 laps. He was called for jumping on the next restart. This gave the lead to Jon Lee. Lee pulled away from the pack taking his first Super Late Model feature at the Dog Pound. Shawn Claar was second over Dave Blazavich, Joe Petyak and Angelicchio. Heats were won by Angelicchio and Lee.
Mike Laughard was looking to end a long dry spell as he took the lead at the start of the RUSH Crate Late Models. Laughard and Braedon Dillinger were battling for the lead. On lap five Dillinger was able to make the winning pass and then hold of Troy Shields for his first win of the season. Shields, Paul Ivory, Joe Moyer and Chris Frank were the top five. Laughard and Shields were heat winners.
The DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinders saw Zack Wissinger jumping out to the lead. Wissinger, making his first start of the season, led the first six laps before something happened to the 21Z. Ninth starting Jack Theys, who was chasing Wissinger, took over the top spot and led the last half of the race for the win. Kolton Wagner came from 18th to take second over Cody Young, John Costa, Brad Lemonovich, Matt Weltz, Jay Swager, Robert Lydic, Larry Weltz and Kyle Jobe. Grabbing the qualifying heats were Wissinger, Mike Potter and Theys.
Mahaffey’s Duke Davidson became the first driver to score a repeat win in the 15 lap AMSOIL Pure Stocks. Davidson went unchallenged to make it back to back wins. Dillon Smith finished second ahead of Bill Mumau, Shawn Smith and Makinna Pearce. Brian Savino and Davidson were the heat winners.
In the Super 6 Late Models Levi Spinneweber led all 15 laps for his second win of the year. John Eckenrod gave him a battle but had to settle for second over Mike Spinneweber, Nathan Mechling and Ed Dunkel. Mike Spinneweber won the heat.
