Thunder Mountain Hosts ULMS For 3rd Event Of Keystone Shootout
4 min readThe Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series heads to Thunder Mountain Speedway on Friday, May 18th for the makeup of the April 27th postponed event. This will be the third and final event of the three race Keystone State Shootout between the three tracks of Port Royal, Tri City and Thunder Mountain. The final leg of shootout will pay $3000 to the winner of the 30 lap main event.
Mike Maresca of Potsdam, NY is currently on top of the ULMS point chart with a third place finish at Port Royal and winning his first ever dirt late model race at the Mudslinger at Tri City. Maresca has had a great tutor and crew chief in Russ King mentoring the former upstate New York big block modified driver. He should be quick at Thunder Mountain as King won the last ULMS race at Thunder Mountain last September. Max Blair currently sits second in points with a pair fourth place finishes so far on the ULMS tour. Doug Eck driving for two time defending series champion car owner, Terry Suppa finds himself third in the point chase after a successful third place at Tri City and is currently one point ahead of former two time series champion, Boom Briggs. The top three point cars after Thunder Mountain event will also share $1000 in point fund money for the Keystone State Shootout.
Thunder Moutain Speedway will kick off a busy upcoming five weekends for the ULMS Racing Series as both the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Model Series and the Plyler Entry Systems Emod Series will be in action in the time.
Memorial day weekend will see the ULMS Late Models make their first of four visits to Freedom Motorsports Park on Friday May 25th for the Ron Baker Memorial paying $2500 to win and on Sunday, May 27 the series rolls into Dog Hollow Speedway for the $4000 to win Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvery Memorial.
ULMS Racing Series rolls into the month of June with a visit to the wild hills of West Virginia. Tyler County Speedway will host the ULMS Late Models in part of the Mega 100 weekend. The ULMS Late Model teams will race in two complete events on Friday and Saturday June 1 and 2nd paying $3000 and $5000 to the winner at “The Baddest Bullring” in the country. The Plyler Entry Emods will also be in action in a partnership with Tyler County with the richest Emod race the mid Atlantic region with the Mega 100. Thursday May 31st will see the top 10 2017 ULMS point cars along with other top point cars from other series and regions compete in a invitational event. On Friday June 1, the Mega weekend really kicks off with a pair of feature events for the modifieds paying $1000 to win each and capped off with the $15,000 to win Mega 100 on Saturday June 2nd. The following week, the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Models head back to Thunder Mountain Speedway in Brookville on Friday June 8th for another $3000 to win headline event. This will be the second and final scheduled ULMS visit for 2018 season. The next night, Saturday June 9th, Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio will host a double header for the ULMS Racing Series consisting of both the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Models and the Plyler Entry Systems United Emod Series. The ULMS Late Models will compete for $3000 to win and the UEMS Emods will compete for a cool grand!
The fifth and final consecutive weekend of ULMS Racing Series action will take place on Saturday, June 16 will see another double header event as the series returns home to McKean County Family Raceway as both the Zimmer Service Center ULMS Late Models and Plyler Entry Systems UEMS Emods will be in action. The very next night will see the ULMS Late Models make their first of two scheduled visits to Rohrer family’s Eriez Speedway for the annual Dick Litz Memorial paying $2900 to win and $290 to start in honor of the former Eriez late model star.
