The 2018 racing season at Lorain County Speedway took the green flag Saturday night with the 50 lap Mod Mania the featured attraction. All five divisions were in action for this rescheduled event. Taking home opening night feature wins were Tyler Shullick (Modifieds), Todd McQuillen (Crate Sprint Cars), Parker Ennes (Grand Nationals); Jonathan Newman (Pure Stocks) and Michael Parks (Chargers).

The fifty lap Modified feature closed out the evenings racing program. Kurt Hennings and Tyler Shullick brought the field to the green flag with Shullick taking the lead as Hennings developed mechanical issues and fell off the pace, retiring to the pit area. Shullick opened up nearly a half straightaway lead as Craig Phillips, Rick Groetsch, Spencer Stineman and Mike Lawson rounded out the top five running order.

As the race reached the halfway mark, Shullick was still leading although his advantage over Phillips was smaller. The running order had not changed. At the finish it was Tyler Shullick taking the checkered flag in tonights fifty lap Mod Mania feature race, leading all fifty caution flag free laps.

Going into tonights Crate Sprint twenty lap feature, Tim Wyckoff looked to be the man to beat as he already picked up the Dash and Heat race wins. In the feature it was Robert Axford and Todd McQuillen in the front row with McQuillen taking the early lead. Running second was Tim Wyckoff followed by Tim Henthorne, Robert Axford and J.J. Henes. McQuillen was on a tear as he continued to lead at the halfway mark with Wyckoff running second. Todd McQuillen would continue to hold off Wyckoff for the remaining laps to take checkered flag.

In tonights fifteen lap Grand National feature race would be Joe Quinn taking the lead from his third starting spot. Quinn was followed by Parker Ennes , Matt Wilson, Bob Lusetti and Logan Cooper. There was quite an intense battle for second between Wilson and Ennes. The battle for second continued through the halfway mark as Quinn continued to lead. Ennes would get past Wilson and would now challenge Quinn for the lead. Ennes would get past Quinn coming out of turn four on the last lap to take the checkered flag.

Jonathan Newman was the lone Pure Stock tonight and would run with the Grand Nationals and was the Pure Stock feature winner. Newman will be having some competition as more Pure Stocks are being built and will be in action in the coming weeks.

The Charger division twelve lap feature was paced to the green flag by Dave Nester and Melvin Martin. Martin led briefly before Rich Gregory took the lead. Gregory appeared to have a tire going down and would pit on lap five, bringing out the caution flag. On the restart it was Michael Parks with the lead. Parks would cruise to the checkered flag as he would sweep the Chargers division on opening night winning the Dash, Heat and Feature.
