Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week Sold
Press Release
November 14, 2017

We are pleased to announce the sell of the Buckeye Dirt Late Model Dirt Week franchise to Robbie Cyrus of Beckley, WV. Mr. Cyrus has been involved with dirt racing all his life. He started working at the Beckley Speedway and moved on to work at Princeton Speedway and Lizard Creek Speedway. After many years helping these tracks he began promoting special events, gathering sponsors and advertising to make the shows special for the drivers and fans. He enjoyed this side of the business so much that he decided to co-promote one of the most special races at Princeton Speedway in the UBB Coal Miners Memorial 29. After much success, Mr. Cyrus stepped up and is now the Director of the Ultimate Mid Ohio Valley Super Late Model Series Region that begins their 1st season in 2018, holding events in Ohio and West Virginia.

In gathering information on getting a 2018 schedule for the Ultimate MOV Series, Mr. Cyrus got in touch with Brad McCown about seeing if Ultimate MOV could help out with the Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week. After much thought, the two made a deal that allowed Mr. Cyrus to purchase the franchise event. Mr. McCown started the Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week as drivers and fans asked for a series like the Sprint Cars have in Ohio. Taking the jump, Mr. McCown has had great success over the past 3 years in which over 100 different drivers from many states including Canada and Australia have come to participate. Such drivers as Matt Westfall(2015), Rod Conley(2016) and Tyler Carpenter(2017) have become the Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week Champion. Then in 2017, Mr. McCown added the Modified class to Dirt Week with Jesse Wisecarver(2017) becoming the first champion. “I’m proud of what we started and very thankful for the teams, sponsors, tracks and staff that was part of helping build Dirt Week. It is now, time to focus 100% of my time on Atomic Speedway,” states Mr. McCown. The Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week has come a long way in three years and Mr. Cyrus promises that the growth of Dirt Weeks will continue each July at many of the tracks that are a staple of this event.
