Little Guys National Purses Announced
4 min read(Mercer, PA September 30, 2017): The countdown has started for the 18th Annual Little Guys Nationals at Mercer Raceway Park. The speed extravaganza offers somehing of interest for every racing fan, young and old. Headlining the event, once again, will be the Turn 4 Toilets 358 Modifieds and the Bonnell’s Rod Shop 305 Sprint Cars! But there will be more, including the debut of the RUSH Sportsmen Modifieds, the only appearances of the 270 Micros, and the returns of Open Stock Cars and Young Guns Junior Sprints. The fun will start Friday night, October 6, and will continue on Saturday, October 7. This program is made possible by American Racer Tires.
Remember that all competitors are encouraged to submit their registration forms in advance to take advantage of the discounted fee. Pre-enries can be obtained by going to the website, www.mercerracewaypark.com and clicking on the tab for the Little Guys Nationals. Pre-entries should be postmarked no later than Saturday, September 30. Registrations will be received at that the track on race nights, but the full fees must be paid.
The racers will be looking for the prestige that goes with a win in the Little Guys Nationals, but they will also be collecting something extra at the pay window as well.
The Turn 4 Toilets 358 Modifieds will race for a thousand dollars to win and a hundred dollars to start on Friday; and Saturday, the winner’s share will double to $2,000, while starting pay will be upped to $130. The Bonnell Rod Shop 305 Sprints will see $500 going to the Friday winner and $100 for the green in the feature. Saturday’s purse will have a hefty increase to $1,000 for the winner and $100 to start the event. The Open Stocks experience two nice paydays, with Friday’s victory worth $500 and start money of $70. But, Saturday’s go will pay $1,500 for the win and $125 to start.
The RUSH Sportsmen Modifieds will pay $500 to the Friday’s winner, with $75 to start the event. Saturday, there is an extra hundred on the line, as the winner will receive $600, and starting money will be bumped up to $100. These will ne nice welcoming presents for the Rush Sportsmen as they will take to the oval for the first time ever.
The Rock Concrete Modified Lites will race for $500 to win on Friday, and $60 to start, and Saturday’s finale will pay the winner $700, with at least $60 going to each starter. The 270 Micros will have $500 awaiting the happy winner and $60 for each starter on Friday. Saturday’s winner’s share will be $700, with at least $60 for starters. The two barrel emods, which race under “your track rules,” get $275 for the win Friday and at least $70 for each starter. Saturday, they will jump to $500 to win, and $75 for each starter.
The Ray’s Racing Collectibles and Eperthener’s Auto Wrecking Mini Stocks will vie for $150 to win on Friday, and $30 for the green flag, Satuday’s pay will increase to $200 for the win and $35 to start the event.

Tickets will be available Friday for $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (60+), and $7 for students (9-15). Family Passes, for two adults and up to four minors of any age will be $32. Pit Passes will be $30. On Saturday, the adult admission will be $17, seniors $15, and students $7. The Family Passes will be $35, and Pit Passes will be $35. Children (8 and under) will be free both days.
