Stake Grills Mason Dixon Field At Dog Hollow

STRONGSTOWN, PA (July 21, 2017) – Dillan Stake took the lead with three to go after leader, Robbie Black had a flat, to win his first Mason-Dixon Shootout for Limited Lates. Michael Lake drove off to his fourth Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature while Mike Laughard won for the third time in the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models. Other repeat winners were Amber Mills (AMSOIL Pure Stocks), Mike Shoemaker (358 Semi Lates) and Jack Theys (DM Fabrication & Welding Service 4 Cylinders).

A caution filled Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Model feature saw Mike Laughard win for the third time this season. The first start saw Corey Neal take the lead but a yellow made for a complete restart. This time Laughard took the lead. Neal gave chase and was actually passing him on lap three when another caution appeared. On the restart Laughard took off and Neal chassed him the remaining 17 laps. Laughard took the checker over Neal, Joe Moyer, Dave Lee and Chris Frank. Dave Lee and Joe Moyer were the heat race winners.
The Mason Dixon Shootout Series was making it’s second appearance at Dog Hollow this season. Pole sitter Robbie Black shot out to the lead at the drop of the green. The race went 22 laps before the only yellow flag came out. That yellow was for leader Black as he blew a right rear tire coming out of turn two. The handed the top spot over to second place runner Dillan Stake. Stake then pulled away from Derrick Quade to earn his first win in the series. Third through tenth were Shaun Jones, Matt Nailor, Devin Hart, Brad McGinnis, Ralph Morgan, Jr., Eric Irvin, Andrew Yoder and Robbie Black, who fixed the flat and came back out. Scoring qualifying wins were Black and Quade.
Rick Singleton was debuting a brand new Longhorn Chassis Friday night. Singleton wasted no time taking the lead as the green flag flew. Singleton looked strong leading until Dave Blazavich was able to make the pass on lap ten. Blazavich then started to pull away until eighth starting Michael Lake caught him and made the winning pass on lap 18. Lake then drove off for his fourth Dog Hollow win this season. Blazavich settled for second over Rick Singleton, Shawn Claar, Joe Petayk, Alex Ferree, Kyle Knapp, Dwayne Taneyhill, Bernie Whiteford and Scott Stein. The three heats were won by Andrew Wylie, Lake and Alex Ferree.
The 15-lap 358 Semi Late feature saw Joe Brawley leading the first five laps. Fifth starting Mike Shoemaker went from third to first on lap six to go on to his second feature win in the class. Brawley, Jason Mullen, Todd English and Shane Nihart were the top five. Jarid Ivory won the lone heat.
Zack Wissinger led the opening lap of the DM Fabrication & Welding Service 4 Cylinder feature before a caution appeared. As the race restarted teammate Jack Theys blew by and went on to score his division leading fifth feature win. Wissinger, Adam Gee, Dylan Young, Bob Pease, Mike Phillipson, Cody Young, Brady Miller and Logan Graham. Heats went to Dylan Young and Theys.
The AMSOIL Pure Stocks finished out the night in their schedule 15-lap feature. Amber Mills led every lap as the race was rained shorted after eight laps. Mills won for the second time in three weeks beating Brad Benton, Kyle Smith, Jr., Chris Wolfe and Dave Rasmussen. Smith won the heat.
