Raceway 7 Season Preview
2 min readConneaut, OH (March 4, 2017): The opening event of Raceway 7’s 2017 season will be the held at the Ashtabula Towne Square, Ashtabula, OH on April 8-9, 2017. The mall is located at 3315 N Ridge Rd E in Ashtabula.
Cars will be brought into the mall at mall closing on Friday April 7 and be on display Saturday and Sunday during regular mall hours, closing at 5 PM Sunday.
For the show all cars must be completely empty of fuel with the fuel filler being sealed. Tires must rest on mats and there must be a ‘drop mat’ under the cars for drive train leaks. The car’s battery must be disconnected or (preferably) removed.
Raceway 7 will open for the season on April 21 with the first of two scheduled ‘test ‘n tune’ sessions starting at 7:30 and lasting for two hours. The second session will be Friday, April 28, also at 7:30 PM. Pit admission will be $20 for both events with grandstand admission free. Limited food concessions will be available.
The racing season will start on May 5th for the season at 7:30 PM with a regular show plus a fireworks show by Gibson Fireworks. Fireworks will also be displayed on May 26, June 30, and the season-ending night on September 1. Special events for each of the five classes will be held throughout the season with appearances scheduled for the Patriot Sprint Tour, the Big Block Modified Tour, the Penn/Ohio Street Stocks, Western Pennsylvania Vintage Modifieds, and a special Sunday event on July 23 for the Super Late Models. Special nights are scheduled for kids in uniform (July 7,admitted free), the Bob and Jackie Vogt Memorial on August 4, and the Topless Challenge for the CARS Crate Late Models on August 18.
A full night of racing will include the Evergreen Lake Park Campground CARS Crate Late Models, the Bonnell’s Collision Service E-Mods, Bonnell’s Auto Group Economods, Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stocks, and the always exciting McDonald’s Sand and Gravel Mini Stocks.
Weather permitting, gates open every Friday at 5:30 PM with pill draw cut off at 7 PM and racing at 7:30 PM. VIP suites are available for rental for $250 a night which includes eight general admissions passes. Admission is set for $15 for adults for this special event, kids 7-14 are $5.
