Revamped Skyline Speedway Eager For Racing In 2017
3 min read(Stewart, Ohio) Operating under new management in 2017, the staff at the Skyline Speedway located in Stewart Ohio is ready to usher in a new era of racing at the long popular facility in 2017. Under the new leadership of Steve Curtis and staff, Skyline Speedway is set to return to action with a full schedule of racing including some of the track’s most popular events along with the return of other and additions of new ones.
With a schedule tentatively consisting of 18 events, comprised of Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows, the track is ready for the first full season of racing at the facility in multiple years. Featuring AMRA sanctioned Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Mods on a weekly basis, along with a rotation of support classes consisting of mostly 4-Cylinders (others TBA) fans are sure to see their share of great racing at the 3/8th mile oval all season long. The track’s season opener which is set for Sunday April 2nd, will serve as the kickoff event for a busy summer of racing at the red clay oval. Along with the tracks various “regular” nights of racing, the tracks schedule includes numerous notable events in 2017, which include the Inaugural “Throwback 30” event for the AMRA Late Models on May 5th plus the highly anticipated return of the Greg Schilling Memorial AMRA Modified special which is set for FRIDAY June 9th. Other special events include the Sarah Bond Memorial on August 19th and the running of the fan favorite Harvest 50 on Saturday October 7th, as one of the most notable and storied Late Model events in the Ohio Valley area returns to Saturday night.
The tracks new management led by Steve Curtis and staff, looks forward to introducing a new Skyline Speedway to both fans and teams during the upcoming season. Along with the staff itself, revamped track prep efforts, concessions and numerous facility upgrades await fans, while the promise of efficient shows and guaranteed payouts await competitors. “We want Skyline to be a fun place to come watch or race every time we open the gates” said promoter Steve Curtis, whom is familiar to many as the owner of the #53c AMRA Late Model primarily driven by Anthony Kinkade.
While the track’s staff eagerly awaits the season opener on April 2nd, Curtis believes the staff is ready, “We learned a lot in the 2 races last year, and with the staff we have assembled, we feel good about what we’re going to give the fans” added Curtis. “With things like our giveaway nights, and $5 college nights… we want to make some new fans and make sure our old ones still have a good time.”
Fans will have an early glimpse of all the excitement, as gates will open on Sunday March 26th for a pre-season Test N Tune before the season opener on April 2nd, plus another Test N Tune on April 5th.
