3rd Annual “MEGA 100” Announced

(Middlebourne, WV) Fall is officially in full swing and winter is right around the corner as we turn our calendars to the month of November. The proverbial ‘offseason’ has begun as tours and speedways are closing the gates on the 2016 season.

The Tyler County Speedway is wasting little time as they plan for the 2017 season following a successful “Kings of Karnage 3” in conjunction with the fairgrounds annual “Harvest Festival” a few weeks ago. Track staff has already begun their fall/spring renovation projects that will include a new modern forty foot press/media facility. This time last year electrical and lighting upgrades were underway and on “bright” display last May as the speedway completed it’s stadium style setup.

Construction is also underway on the 2017 racing schedule which marks the Hometown Racing Associations fourth year at the helm of the fairboard owned ¼ mile facility in Middlebourne, WV. Legendary promoter Carl Short, has already announced the return of the 49th Annual “Hillbilly 100” to the Tyler County Speedway on September 2nd & 3rd, 2017. The event will once again pay$25,000 to the winner and be sanctioned by the prestigious Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Hall of Fame racer and LOLMDS Champion, Scott Bloomquist would win his first ever feature at the speedway in claiming this years version of the ‘Hillbilly 100’ over Jonathan Davenport.

Additionally, speedway officials are excited to roll out their ambitious plans for the “Mega 100 Weekend” to be held July 1st & 2nd, 2017. Race planning has already taken the green for the third annual event which is set to be the biggest one yet. Saturday night will feature twin $3,000 to win modified races allowing forty-eight drivers an A-Main in the racer friendly format. On Sunday a complete show, $10,000 to win main event will cap of the biggest modified race in the Eastern United States. The Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour will again return with the American Motor Racing Association for the co-sanctioned summer headliner.

The Bullring will play host to a complete lineup of divisions during the ‘MEGA’ featuring all weekly classes in competition. The AMRA Super Late Model division will vie for it’s largest single day purse in three seasons of the “MEGA” with $7,000 awaiting the winner exclusively on Sunday July 2nd. The Super Late Models will also participate in it’s first of the two complete shows on Saturday featuring a $3,000 to win main event for a possible $10,000 to win over the weekend.

The STARS Mod Lites, EDGE Hotmods, FWD 4Cylinders, & MWRA Mini-Wedges will also be in action with complete shows each evening. The nationally sanctioned STARS Mod Lites series will compete for a stout $700 dollar winners share each night. The FASTRAK Late Models will also be in action on Saturday for $1,000 to win with the Steel Block Late Models taking the stage on Sunday for $1,000 to win. FASTRAK Late Models are encouraged to compete on Sunday with the Steel Blocks with bonuses of $100 to the highest finishing 604 crate as well as a bonus to the highest finishing crate from the tracks top ten in weekly FASTRAK points also on the line.

“All divisions will be getting complete shows each night with FASTRAK having the opportunity to also run Sunday and the Steel Blocks having the chance to run Late Model on Saturday” stated owner, John Watson. “This format we feel is the best we’ve had of the three years and gives fans and drivers an awesome show worth every penny both nights” concluded Watson.

Tickets for the MEGA 100 will go on sale December 1st right in time for that perfect stocking stuffer on every race fans Christmas list. The hosting venue; The Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV is a ¼ mile dirt oval nestled in the hills of scenic West Virginia along the historic Middle Island Creek. On site camping makes the Tyler County Speedway/Fairgrounds a race fans vacation destination year after year. Lots of great camping available including primitive or full hook ups.
