Skyline Speedway Set To Reopen For 2 Dates
4 min read(Stewart, Ohio) Just months after Skyline Speedway management was forced to shut the doors on the venues 2016 season in early July, the track will once again see racing action this fall as the long popular 3/8th mile oval will reopen under new management for two (2) special events with the running of the Sarah Bond Memorial on September 17th and the long standing ‘Harvest 50’ on a TBA date. Opening under the new direction of CBMotorsports LLC. the track will look to recapture the excitement that both fans and teams associated with Skyline Speedway for many years while working to create even more excitement in the running of these two special events.
With the track now under the leadership of CBMotorsports LLC. the new Skyline Speedway staff looks to approach these two popular events with the racers and fans in mind, as the events will ensure guaranteed purses while the staff also intends to work towards timely and efficient shows with a crew dedicated to producing track conditions that promote an exciting event for both drivers and fans. With a complete supporting staff made up of new and old faces from various aspects of the sport, management is excited to approach the Sarah Bond Memorial and Harvest 50 events with the goal to produce two quality shows featuring many of the regions top talents to keep racing alive on the red clay of Skyline Speedway.
With both the Sarah Bond Memorial and Harvest 50 events being held in such high regards with fans and competitors alike, the Skyline Speedway staff felt it was important to ensure that these races were held in 2016 and remained a fixture in the racing community. The Sarah Bond Memorial which will be held on Saturday September 17th, will not only celebrate the life of a true staple and friend of the sport in Sarah Bond, but also feature a $2,000 to win AMRA Late Model special, plus a $1,200 to win AMRA Modified showdown along with racing in the 4 Cylinder division. The event will feature elevated purses, and is also expected to feature numerous cash bonus opportunities for each class and once again, will ensure a guaranteed payout(management considering possible 4th class).
While a particular date has not yet been set for the Harvest 50, track management does plan to the run the season ending Late Model special which will see many of the regions top Late Model talents battle for a $4,000 top prize and the chance to add their name to the long list of Late Model standouts who have captured the win in this special event. With the Harvest 50 also featuring a healthy payout throughout the field, it is track managements intention to see a excellent field of cars and a show that truly showcases all that the ‘Harvest 50’ is . The AMRA Modifieds will also be on the card for the Harvest 50 event with a special elevated purse show (TBA), while no other classes have been set for the event at this point in time. Much like the Sarah Bond Memorial, this event will feature guaranteed purses and numerous cash prizes for drivers all throughout the event. With the Harvest 50 event undoubtedly the claim the fame for the Skyline Speedway, track management is also planning numerous activities to once again recapture the excitement and atmosphere that has shaped the Harvest 5o into one of the regions longest running events.
The track crew is actively working on necessary upgrades to the facility including work on the 3/8th mile oval itself plus other aspects of the facility in order to help work towards the success of these shows. Track management wishes to thank speedway owner Billy Jarrell for his assistance in allowing for the facility to be operated under new management for the conclusion of 2016. Facility upgrades and upkeep are actively ongoing in anticipation of the Sarah Bond Memorial race.
Management plans to host a Test N Tune in the coming weeks once all details are worked out.
Track Management is working to place bonus awards and opportunities for Steel Block Late Models who compete with the open AMRA Late Models races.
The Harvest 50 will take place in late September or early October and will tentatively be the season finale.
