Conneaut, OH (August 6, 2016): With rain hitting areas surrounding Raceway 7 it turned out to be a beautiful night of racing at the northeast Ohio speedplant with the Bob & Jackie Vogt Memorial for the Bonnell’s Collision Center E-Mods being the highlight race of the night. Dan Davies took him the $1000 first place purse, his first Raceway 7 triumph of the season, after taking the lead at nine laps into the feature. Returning to Victory Lane after a two-tear absence in the Evergreen Lake Park Campground CARS Crate Late Models was Dave Airgood, leading flag to flag for the popular victory. Steve Haefke continued to dominate the Bonnell Auto Sales Economods with his sixth win while Jason Easler upped his dominating season to eight wins over the McDonald’s Sand & Gravel Mini Stocks. Defending champion Shawn Fawcett collected his third win over the Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stock field.

Dennis Lunger and Dave Airgood brought the Evergreen Lake Park Campground CARS Crate Late Models to green with Airgood edging ahead on the first lap to lead Lunger by a length at the end of the lap. Lunger stayed with Airgood through the opening laps, trying every turn to get back to the lead but by six laps complete Airgood was starting to open his lead. At halfway the front five were Airgood by five lengths over Lunger with Darrell Bossard third, Wendall Pinckney fourth, and Breyton Santee fifth. On lap fourteen Airgood caught the tail of the field and began lapping the back-markers. At fifteen laps in Chad Wright had displaced Santee for fifth. Airgood went on to his first win of the season over Lunger, Bossard, Pinckney, and Wright in the all-green, 20-minute class finale.

Mike Potosky and Troy Johnson brought the Bob & Jackie Vogt Memorial to green with Potosky, a two time winner this season, getting the immediate lead but action was slowed with two laps complete when Alan Atkinson spun on the high side of turn three. Potosky led again after green with Billy Henry coming to second and Dave Hess Jr, in a new Clinger Built E-Mod, third. Another caution, involving Josh Ferry and Ken Zimmer, slowed the race again at four complete. Hess came to second at five laps in, just as Ferry spun again in turn one. On the restart Hess suffered mechanical problems and rolled to a halt in turn one. The car restarted and Hess was able to rejoin the event. Davies came to second after the green was again flying with Henry third, Johnson back to fourth, and Dan McDonald fifth. Heading into turn one on lap nine a part flew from the lead car of Potosky and he slowed, then turned left into the infield. Davies then led Henry, Johnson, Jesse Gould, and Dan McDonald. At twelve laps in Gould spun in turn three, eventually involving several more cars including Bill Taylor, Ken Zimmer, Josh Ferry, Mike Kinney, and Percy McDonald. With the track nearly blocked, red was shown until the cars could be removed. Kinney, Ferry, and Percy McDonald were unable to continue. At thirteen complete Josh McDonald spun in turn two, collecting Hess in the process. Troy Johnson got back up to second over Henry at fourteen compete with Davies starting to open his lead. At fifteen laps Dan McDonald and Howard Fraley were locked in a side by side battle for fourth with McDonald securing it at lap seventeen. Lunger then got next to Fraley and was in fifth at the end of twenty. At 21 complete Hess was back up to third but slowed in turn three, done for the night. At the checkers it was Davies winning the memorial to two of Raceway 7’s favorites, Bob & Jackie Vogt. Johnson wound up second with Henry third, Dan McDonald fourth, and Lunger fifth,

Defending champion Shawn Fawcett started the Campbell’s Mini Storage from the pole position with Don McGuire to his right. Jason Longwell and Garrett Calvert spun in lap two, slowing the race for the first time. At green, points leader Rob Bates came to second with McGuire now third over Chris McGuire and Joe Stajnrajh. Brian Mulichak spun in turn two at three complete for caution number two. Longwell again spun on the restart, slowing the field the third time. Rod Lasky was the spinner for the next yellow, again on lap three. At halfway Fawcett led Don McGuire, Bates, Chris McGuire, and Stajnrajh but Garrett Calvert slammed the wall on the front straight, yet again slowing the race. Calvert was unable to continue. Stajnrajh got to fourth at eight complete, then third at eleven laps. Fawcett went on to his third win of the season over Don McGuire, Stajnbajh, Bates, and Chris McGuire.

Defending champion Rick Prosser and current points leader Steve Haefke brought the Bonnell’s Auto Group Economods to green with Haefke leading laps one as Mitch Wright slowed on the back straight with last week’s winner Tyler Frankenberry making contact and coming to a halt in turn three. After one lap of green Haefke was leading Brad Blackshear and Prosser then Blackshear spun in turn two, eventually collecting Frankenberry, Casey Harmon, Devin Henry, and Chuck Steinle Sr. As Henry never came to a stop he was restarted from the sport he held, third. Frankenberry and Blackshear both needed towed from the scene. After green again was shown, Haefke led Prosser, Steve Burns, Henry, and Gary Olson with caution again shown at four complete when Wright again spun, this time in turn two. Burns, running the extreme outside most of the night, slammed the turn three wall at seven laps complete. At green Haefke continued to lead with Olson challenging Prosser for the runner up spot. At five to go Prosser was solidly back in second with Haefke opening a half straight lead. With two to go Ashley Rogers, very slow in turn two, was hit hard by third-running Olson, again slowing the race and juggling the top five, now showing Haefke, Prosser, Henry, George Vestal, and Chuck Steinle Sr. Burns got by Steinle for fifth on lap fourteen then nearly got by Vestal for fourth on the final lap but slid high in turn three, having to settle for fifth. It was Haefke’s sixth win of the season.

Pat Drennan and Corey Wick were the front row for the McDonald’s Sand & Gravel Mini Stock night capper. Hoyt Mihalak tok the early lead with Bud Sergeff coming to second at lap two. At three complete Jason Easler was third with defending champion Brad Cole fourth. At four complete Bill Fuchs was fifth. On lap eight Easler got by Sergeff but Sergeff came back to second at nine complete when caution, then red flew when Alexis Vogt’s car caught fire on the infield. After racing resumed both Sergeff and Easler got by Mihalak then Easler took over the lead from Sergeff with one lap to go. Easler went on to the win, his eighth of the season, over Sergeff, Mihalak, Cole, and Fuchs.
