The 2nd Annual STARS Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week presented by Octane Race Products has all systems set on go, as the popular 10 day racing series prepares for Ohios most exciting stretch of Late Model racing action. With the stars and cars ready to hit the road for the second consecutive summer, series owner Brad McCown looks to continue to the success and growth of the Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week in 2016, while reaching even greater heights as the tour, which is solely unique to the state of Ohio, will now operate under the long popular STARS Dirt Late Models banner. With the revamped STARS Late Models now under the direction of McCown, the tour promises to provide even greater excitement as McCown intends to bring the past and present together to solidify an already awesome 8 days of racing over just 10 days in the state of Ohio.
The STARS Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week tour consists of 8 complete Late Model events over the span of just 10 days across the great state of Ohio. The series offers an impressive points fund and excellent individual show purses each night, as shows will range from $3,000 to $5,000 to win respectively. The Dirt Week is certain to draw many of the Midwests most popular and competitive Late Model talents this year much like it did in 2015. In what was the inaugural campaign for the tour in 2015, the series saw the likes of Devin Moran, Jackie Boggs, Jason Jamison and more claim victory throughout the tour, while Late Model/Modified standout Matt Westfall claimed the overall series points title in an intense points battle with Duane Chamberlain, that remained fierce until the checkered flag flew in the series finale at the Atomic Speedway. However, with Westfall now shifting his focus back to the Modified ranks in 2016, an absolutely stout field of competitors will look to do battle for their chance to become this years Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week champion. With drivers such as Devin Moran, Duane Chamberlain, Rod Conley, Greggie Oliver, Freddie Carpenter and numerous other regional favorites indicating their intentions to compete for the series title, along with other competitors such as Tim Dohm, Eddie Carrier and Jackie Boggs indicating their intentions to either start the series and/or follow the tour on a limited basis, it is without a doubt that this years tour is sure to provide a truly all-STARS field each and every night.
The tour will kick off this Thursday July 21st with a $3,000 to win series opener at the exciting and action packed Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta Ohio. Following the opener, the tour will then move westward to the popular Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg Ohio on Friday night for another $3,000 to win show before then moving to Orrville Ohio as the Wayne County Speedway will play host to the $4,000 Don Gross Memorial race on Saturday night. The fourth event on the tour will take place at the fast and always exciting Millstream Speedway in Findlay Ohio as the venue will hold a $4,000 to win Sunday special, with the tour then taking Monday and Tuesday off, as those dates will serve as a break or possible rainout dates for prior events. Following the short break, the action will pick right back up in a big way as the tour will make a stop at the beautiful Atomic Speedway for a $3,000 to win Wednesday night special before then moving to the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg Ohio for a $3,000 to win showdown. The final two events of the series are sure to come with plenty of excitement as the tour moves to the Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles Ohio for a $3,000 Friday night special which will serve as the prelude event to the series finale as the tour makes the short trek to the Atomic Speedway on Saturday July 30th. .
