The UFo Championship was set up to benefit the drivers, tracks and sponsors in the region. The concept of the tour was to reduce costs for the tracks by reducing sanction fees to only necessary costs such as a point fund contribution, by reducing driver costs with lower entry fees, and allowing sponsors to put all of their funds toward the point fund.

In 2016, the results of the first two Super Late Model events have shown that the track and sponsor contributions are now a liability, with no cross-benefit. There was little interest by Super Late Model racers from the western, northern, southern or eastern areas of the tour in competing for the point fund. This would have been over $30,000 contributed by the tracks and sponsors, with little end result. Additionally, the drive to increase payoffs this year showed no result other than increasing track costs. The tour has become a liability to the tracks instead of an asset, and not worth the time invested to keep in active.

The Semi-Late tour did have strong support of the drivers, but unfortunately it was designed to run in tandem with the Super Late Model tour. The elimination of the Super Late Model tour resulted in the elimination of this tour as well.

The drivers with perfect attendance will be paid pro-rated point fund based on completed events in approximately 1 month after all track and by-race sponsor contributions are received. Any sponsorships paid for the full year will be refunded based on the pro-ration of completed events. The scheduled Super Late Model races will take place unsanctioned, but should be verified with each track. Please support all of the tracks this year and in the future.

Thanks to everyone that supported the 2nd round of the UFo Championship!
