Conneaut, OH (May 11, 2016): After a successful opening night all five classes of racers will return this Friday to Raceway 7 for a regular card of action-packed high-speed excitement.
The Evergreen Lake Park Campground CARS Crate Late Models will again lead the program with past champion Kyle Zimmerman looking to make it two in a row. Darrell Bossard wound up second last week so will be looking for one more spot forward in the rundown. Dennis Lunger, Breyton Santee, and Matt Latta, all former winners, filled out the top five and are expected to be contending for the win.
Joel Watson, a winner in every class he ever competed, dominated the Bonnell’s Collision Center E-Mods opening night. Can he make it two in a row? Josh Ferry, a standout in the Economos over the last two years, moved up and ran second last week, a real accomplishment for the youngster. Ferry always runs well and may have something for the veteran Watson. Another veteran, Troy Johnson, wound up third with Crate Late Model veteran Dennis Lunger doing double duty and winding up fourth last week in his first night in an E-Mod in several years. Filling out the top five last week was former Steel Block Late Model champion Billy Henry, moving onto E-Mods after a successful Crate Late Model Career. 2015 class champion Percy McDonald was sixth.
A slim field of Campbell’s Mini Storage Street Stocks raced last week with Rob Bates collecting the win over Brandon Groters and Jimmy Kennerknecht.
Steve Haefke had an excellent race last week, picking up his first win of the season in the Bonnell’s Auto Sales Economods, winning over last year’s champion Rick Prosser and Eric Reinwald. Youngsters Josh Mueller and Kyle Fellows filled out the top five.
Jason Easler showed incredible speed in his McDonald’s Sand and Gravel Mini Stocks, winning by a comfortable margin after near disaster with an infield-marking tire at the start of last week’s feature. 2015 champion Brad Cole was second with Casey Harmon third, Casey Burch fourth, and Scott Gill fifth.
