Opening Night At Deerfield Raceway

The night started off with the mighty Magrell’s Pizza Jr. Sprints. Third place starter Braden Tucke took the lead on lap 2 and closed the checkered first. Michael Lutz and Charlie Biskup crossed the line 2nd and 3rd. Ty Lance and Tyler Sweitzer completed the top 5. Heats went to Tucke and Lance.

Todd Canter wins heat and feature in the A-1 Auto & Spring E-Mods. Nicole Hrdlicka lead the first three laps before spinning and going to the rear. Canter takes over and cruises to his first feature run of the season. Gary Miller takes over second on lap nine and finishes second. Ray Gregory finishes third with Ed Harris fourth and Hrdlicka fifth.

Majestic Trailer Micro Sprint feature win goes to third generation racer Brian Borawiec Jr. Borawiec starts on the pole and leds every lap. Outside pole CJ Davis shadowed Boracic for the first twelve laps before Michael Keefe took over second where he finished. Tim Eakin finished third with Davis fourth. Rounding ou the top five was Wes Libert. Heats went to Brandon Fredericks and Michael Keefe.

Terry Ohl wins the Summit Racing Classic feature. Veteran Ohl starts on the pole and holds off challenges from Mark Beveridge for the first seven and Jason Myers for the next eight. Myers finishes second with the hard charging Maranda Myers crossing the line third ahead of a competitive Rich Johnston. Rounding out the top five was Rookier Mark Biskup from Berlin Center. Heats were won by Larry Went and Maranda Myers.

Jacob Eakin started on the pole and led every lap to win this Hoosier tire feature. Eakin’s win was not easy as Jacob Teeters and Cody Stillion were right on his bumper waiting for the inside lane. Stillion finished second as Teeter loops his car trying to inside akin. Chase Nichols did not start the feature.

Mike Flockerzi from Venus PA started on the pole and led the first three laps before giving the lead to Jim Good from Cuyahoga Falls who spun in turn three to bring out the caution. Jeff Teeter, Warren OH, took over on lap five and it was on, follow the leader. The top three cars were Leader Chassis cars but Doug Stanley got by Jason Darocha on lap eight and stole second from Dave Innes to put his Champ Chassis car in second for the final lap. Finishing fifth was Jim Gump from Akron. Darocha half from Lordstown while Doug Stanley is from North Benton. Heats went to Stanley and Teeter.

Eighteen cars started the Mel’s Towing feature event, and the #1S Jason Shaw took home the win. Shaw took the lead from buddy Jeremy Ross on lap 3. Darrell Lawson ended the race 3rd. Don Peebles, 2015 Hoosier Tire Point Champ ended the race 4th followed by Jonathon Dotson. Heats went to Lawson and shaw.

Summit Racing Chargers only had five cars but may of had the most exciting feature race of the night as rubbing and passing were happening every lap. Steve Mix Jr. lead the first eight laps before Bob Boano got under him entering turn three contact was made and they both found their way to the rear. Art Williams and Teddy Williams traded the lead for next four laps before giving way to Mix Jr. and Boano who made contact entering turn one sending Mix Jr. to the pits and Boano to the rear again. With one to go Teddy spins trying to steal the wins but ends up last car running. When the dust settled the finish was Art Williams, Bob Boano, Greg Davis, Teddy Williams and Steve Mix Jr. Heat went to Boano.

Rex Easely started third in the Complete Towing 600 Micro Sprint feature, but lead every lap to win his first of the 2016 season. Ryan Fredericks race second for the first eight laps before a sick sounding engine helped him drop back to a fourth place finish. Morgan Reusser with a solid second place finish. Jeff Haefke finished third while Jon Adams rounded out the top five. Haley barber from Mount Clemens Michigan finished seventh while grandpa Bo Barber from Clarksville TN finished ninth. Brooke Coggin and Joe Boyle finished sixth and eighth. Heat to Easely.
