Earl Hill Memorial Rescheduled For Double Header Weekend

(Middlebourne, WV) Due to the weekend forecast which calls for snow/rain on Saturday with high’s in the mid 30’s the Hometown Racing Association and officials of the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series have agreed to push back the 27th running of the Earl Hill Memorial one week. The rescheduled event will now take the green flag on Saturday Night, April 16th setting up an exciting double header weekend of speed at the Tyler County Speedway.

Kicking off the twin bill weekend will be the originally scheduled Thursday Thunder program on Thursday Night, April 14th. A rare mid-week special will see the regions racers hit the Middlebourne oval as the return of the AMRA/STARS Late Model Racing Series paying $2,000 to win will highlight the evening along with the running of the prestigious ‘Heritage 101’ Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour season opener.

The popular Renegades of Dirt Series will kick off their 2016 campaign with the first of three visits to the Tyler County Speedway as the best Renegade open wheel racers wage war in hopes of riding away on a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle. Plus racing in all other classes (No MWRA) will also be on tap as gates open at 4pm, and hotlaps getting underway at 6:45. General admission is priced at $15, with children 10 and under free and pit admission priced at $35.

Day two of the early season double header will welcome the Zimmer’s Service Center ULMS Late Model Series to the ‘Bullring’ as the Pennsylvania based series will kick off their 2016 season on Saturday, April 16th at the Middlebourne speedplant. This will be the ULMS Late Models first ever trip to the hills of West Virginia yet alone Tyler County Speedway. The 27th Annual ‘Earl Hill Memorial’ will be on the program featuring a 40 lap $5,080 to win event.

The ULMS Late Models will be featured by the Jay’s Auto Wrecking ‘Keeping You Running’ Elite Race Teams of Levi Sikora, Max Blair, all time ULMS feature winner Rob Blair, Doug Eck, Bobby Rohrer, past two time series champion Mike Knight, Dave Hess Jr., Charlie Powell, Chad Wright and John Volpe. Other northern teams expected to venture down are the father and son duo of Greg and Michael Oakes from Franklinville, NY along with defending series champion, Jared Miley of South Park, PA. A star studded field of entries from the mid-ohio valley area will look to defend the home turf of the racey ¼ mile ‘Bullring’ including track champion Derek Doll, Daniel Hill, Kyle Thomas, Sonny Conley, Travis Brown, Steve Weigle and Steve Wilmoth among several other late model hotshoes.

Pit gates open at 3pm, with the MWRA Mini Wedges getting started at 5:30 with hotlaps/qualifying to follow (No AMRA Mods). General admission is priced at $20, children 10 and under free with pits priced at $35. Armbands from the rain out on April 2nd are good for the month of April and include either show on the 14th or 16th. Arm bands from last Saturday are still good through the month of April including either show next week.
