Moran Adds Another Win At The Hill

With the promise of warmer temperature s and the sun shining, fans filled the stands at Hilltop Speedway for what was sure to be an exciting night of races.
First out for the night was the Holmes Tire late models with at car count of 21. Setting fast time for the second week was Kyle Moore, while Ty Myers and Casey Burdette picked up heat race wins and Doug Drown picked up the dash. As Drown brought the field to the green, he and Dave Hornikel would go side by side for the lead, when Hornikel would bring out the caution forcing him and Ryan Markham pit side. Back under green, Drown would take the lead with Corey Conley and Devin Moran right on his bumper. Challenging Drown lap after lap, Moran was able to take over the top spot. Using lap traffic to maintain his lead, Moran would also succumb to lap traffic allowing Drown to make a move. With a near side by side finish, it was Devin Moran edging out and picking up the win, making it number thirteen at the Hill. Finishing third was Corey Conley, fourth Kyle Moore, and fifth was Ty Myers.
With a field of 15, the Finish Line Auto Body modifieds would have Nathon Loney setting fast time for the night. Picking up the heat win was Jimmy Smith and last week’s feature winner Robin Duston would pick up the dash win. With the drop of the green, it was Duston taking the lead as Casey Fritz and Nathon Loney battled it out for second. Troubles would send Fritz into the infield and enable Loney to put his focus on Duston. As the two battled it out lap after lap, it would come down to a drag race to the finish with Nathon Loney picking up the win. Rounding out the top five was Rex Frohnapfel Jr., Jimmy Smith, and Rory Reed.
The modlite division was up next with Cole Petrelle and Nick Crider each picking up heat race win and setting the front row for the night’s feature event. As the field came to the green, it was Nick Crider jumping out to the lead and that is where he would remain, picking up the feature win in dominating fashion. Second was Brandon Shaw, third Cole Petrelle, fourth Ryan Baker, and fifth Brian Stuhldreher.
The Holmes Pest Control street stocks had a field of 13 with Steve Barnhart picking up the heat win and Dave Potts pickin up the dash. With Potts setting the pace, the green was out with Potts and Bob Daugherty challenging one another for the lead. However, both would be passed as Mike Lonas would come from third to take the lead. Working his way through lap traffic, Lonas would maintain his lead over the rest of the field and go on to pick up the win followed by Bob Daugherty, Dave Potts, Bob Chilcote, and Dustin Daugherty.
The Bugs-R-Gone Trucks had a field of 12 with heat race wins going to Rolly Heyder and Jerry Gardner. With the field set, the green was out and it was Rolly Heyder who would take the top spot followed by Jerry Gardner. Meanwhile, Travis Winterringer would be making a charge of his own working his way through the field from the tail. Nevertheless, Heyder was able to maintain his position and go on to pick up the win. Finishing second was Jerry Gardner, third was Travis Winterringer, fourth Joey Heyder, and fifth Tom Garlick.
Rounding out the night was the Winning Edge Auto Body mini stocks with a field of 33. Picking up each of the four heat races was Jason St. John, Jerry Adkins, Mike Beckert, and Michael Rose while Colten St. John picked up the b-main win. Bringing the field to the green, it was Jerry Adkins who would take the top spot and that is where he would remain as the battle for positions would ensue behind him. With Adkins taking the checkered it was Billy Parsons, Jason St. John, Gary Hensel Jr., and Brad Hensel rounding out the top five.
