WHEELERSBURG, OH-The Southern Ohio Speedway is proud to release it’s 2015 schedule and rules packages for each of the three weekly classes. All can be found on the track website at www.southernohiospeedway.com.

The 2015 schedule will see a high quality show each and every race night. The track has taken the purse structures used the previous two seasons for the $3,000 to win Late Model shows and has revamped them to make the Southern Ohio Championship Series. This revamped program has resulted in a package that focuses more on the weekly racer than arguably any package in the country while keeping purses strong up front. This has created a package that is appealing to racers of all types of budgets.

The Southern Ohio Championship Series, which features 12 rounds all contested at SOS this spring and summer, will feature shows that pay Late Models $2,000 to win, $250 to start, Modifieds $750 to win, $140 to start, and Sport Mods $300 to win, $35 to start. The shows will also feature $400 to win Late Model Consolation Features and $200 to win Modified Consolation Features. Those races will be for drivers who have never won a feature at SOS. This will let the fans see two Late Model and Modified feature races in one night.

Community involvement will be another big focus of the 2015 schedule. Each race this season is a themed night that will involve various groups in the local community and racing community. These themed nights are meant to help draw new people to the track and celebrate some of the things that make our community great.

The schedule will feature racing every Friday night during the month of April and then move towards a every other Friday schedule starting in May. This schedule will keep races from being scheduled against other big shows in the region, insuring that each and every event at SOS in 2015 is a high quality event. The track is currently looking for sponsorships to add some additional special events on top of the 12 special Southern Ohio Championship Series shows. The track is also working on adding some events to the late summer and fall portion of the schedule where dates become tight due to high school football and a plethora of already schedule fall specials in the region.

The track is also proud to release it’s 2015 rules packages. The rules packages for each class have been designed to make the classes the most economical possible. For the first time in modern-era track history, a tire rule will be put on the Late Model division. Late Models must run 1300 or harder on rear tires (any brand) and the front tires will be open. All other rules remain the same. Modifieds will be unsanctioned in 2015 but run under the UMP rules package, with the exception that Modifieds must run Hoosier A tires only.

After listening to much feedback and different opinions, the track has decided to keep the Sport Mod division rules the same as in 2014. The Sport Mod class, which got it’s start in the region at SOS under the current rules package, has been the fastest growing division in the region. The reason for this growth has been because of how economical the class has been. We have not wavered in opening up the rules and feel that is necessary to the continued growth of the class. History shows us once a class starts getting opened up, it begins a downward trend in growth and an upward trend in cost.

The 2015 season will unofficially get underway with pre-season action in March featuring a Test N’ Tune & Swap Meet on Saturday, March 21st and a second Test N’ Tune on Saturday, March 28th. The 2015 season officially gets underway on Friday, April 3rd with Opening Night, featuring the inaugural event of the Southern Ohio Championship Series paying Late Models $2,000 to win, Modifieds $750 to win, Sport Mods $300 to win, Late Model Consolation Feature $400 to win, and Modified Consolation Feature $200 to win.
