Lernerville Ready For Steel City Stampede
3 min readSarver, PA (October 16, 2014) While some teams have already parked their cars for the season and others will continue on to the World Finals in Charlotte, for all intents and purposes, the 6th Annual DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede is the final race of the season in Western Pennsylvania. And if the first five Stampedes are any indication, this is an event that you will not want to miss. Yes, you will need to bring a hoodie and maybe even full winter garb, but it will be six long months until we meet again at the Action Track!
With nine divisions in action during the three-day weekend, we fully expect to have over 200 cars in competition and pit cars in the infield again this year. As always, our Fab Four Racing divisions will anchor the event and the Peoples TWP DIRTcar Sprints, Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Models and Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Northeast Big Block Modifieds will all be racing for a $3,000 bookend to the 2014 season. The ultra-competitive Millerstown Pic-A-Part DIRTcar Sportsman/Stocks will be racing for a $1,000 payday in an “Open Rules” format.
In addition to our Fab Four Racing Divisions, five other divisions will be in action for the season ending event. The RUSH Late Models and Sportsman Modifieds, (both crate engine divisions), will return to the Action Track as will the Renegade/UMP Modifieds. 4-Cylinders will also be in action all three nights and some of those cars will actually move on to the Enduro 100 that will be the final race of the season after all other features are completed on Saturday Night. The RUSH Dirt Late Models will be racing for $2,000-to-win, the Renegade/UMP Modifieds and Enduro 100 are $1,000-to-win races, while the RUSH Sportsman Mods and 4-Cylinders will race for $500-to-win.
Before the features are contested on Saturday Night, October 25, all divisions will take part in rotating hot laps of Thursday, October 23 and qualify via heat races on Friday, October 24. This three-day race weekend is the perfect venue to set up camp for one last weekend at the race track and camping opens at noon on Thursday on a first come, first serve basis. Pit gates, registration and “Early Bird” tech inspection all open/start at 3:00 on Thursday. Hot laps on Thursday and heat races on Friday both begin at 7:00, with B-Mains starting at 6:00 Saturday followed by all nine feature races. Fab Four Racing/DIRTcar rules will be in effect for the 410 Sprints, Super Late Models and Big Block Modifieds, (358s can weigh 2,500 lbs. for this event), RUSH rules will be in effect for the Crate Late Models and Sportsman Modifieds and Renegade rules will be in effect for the UMP-style Modifieds. Open/“Home Track” rules will be in effect for the Sportsman/Stocks and 4-Cylinders. With three days of racing going on, there are a variety of ticket and pit pass options.
