Brushcreek’s Final Regular Night Produces Drama And Excitement!
4 min read(Peebles, OH) As the summer comes to a close the Brushcreek Motorsports Complex located just outside Peebles hosted one final event of the regular racing season. The day was humid and hot, crews had to earn the wins this week as just preparing the cars in the heat was a tall task. Drivers readied as the sun began to set behind the hills. Not only was the air hot but so was the action on the track as the first races began!
The Crazy Compacts started the nights action with their Feature event. As the green flag flew fans knew that the heated battle between Devin Puckett and Tommy Stout Jr would spill over into the feature event. Things got wild as the lead cars began to make contact with each other. Tommy Stout Jr was able to get into clean air with Devin Puckett following. Chris Shelton Sr. lurked in the background and soon made the pass to move into second. Stout has a bumper full of Shelton as the laps wound down. Around the half-way point, Stout found his car coming to a slow and an eventual stop. Chris Shelton Sr. would hold on to win his first race at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex this season with Devin Puckett, Kevin Howell, Dusty Puckett Jr and Tommy Stout Jr. rounding out the top 5.
The Hidden Gem Web Designs Sport Mods were slated to hit the track next. The two heat race winners were Tyler Smith and Mitchell Fields. Tyler Smith was looking to continue his recent dominance. He jumped out early but has Mitchell Fields right behind him. Fields would look high and low trying to find a way around the young Portsmouth, OH native. In the end it was to no avail. Tyler Smith picked up his second win in a row and his third win in four races. Eric Dennison, Sam Hobbs, Greg Litteral and Billy Lanthorn rounded out the top 5.
Modifieds would echo through the valley next as Dave Jamison and Davey Warnock would lead the field to the green. Dave Jamison lead the charge to another dominating feature win followed by Keith Smith, Davey Warnock, Cody Smith and Tyler Allison.
The Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series hit the track next. As always the Legend Car race was exciting. As the green flag flew drivers were moving forward and backward. Three and sometimes four wide racing filled the opening laps. Just as things began to wind down Steven Partin got lose off of turn 2 taking a hard hit into the inside wall. After clearing things up Partin was transferred to a local hospital for observation as the racing continued. The racing action up front was heavy between Tommy Stout Sr, Tom Partin, John Gutman, Josh Francis and Cole DeMint. The five battled back and forth until the very end. On the last lap Tom Partin dove low running fourth and came down the backstretch leading. Tommy Stout jumped back and was able to pass Partin before the Checkered flag! Tommy Stout Sr. won his second race followed by Tom Partin, John Gutman, Josh Francis and Cole DeMint. Although Brushcreek Motorsports is slowing down for the year the Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car series still has several races at other venues to run.
