(Attica, OH) It seems like – due to Mother Nature – summer just began. But fall is just around the corner and that means the yearly switch from Friday night racing to Saturday events for Attica Raceway Park.
With only four shows remaining in 2014, “Ohio’s Finest Racing Speedplant” still has plenty of fun and excitement left. It begins Saturday, Aug. 16 on WNWO NBC Toledo Channel 24/Culy Contracting Night with the 410 sprints going for $3,000 to win with the UMP Late Models, 305 sprints and dirt trucks also in action.
Kistler Racing Products will present the Mark Keegan Classic Season Championship Night on Saturday, Aug. 23. Double points will be on the line in all four divisions with the 410 sprints gunning for $3,000 to win.
The point battles are close in all the divisions. Former track champion Chris Andrews holds a slim 16 point lead over Caleb Griffith in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 410 sprints. Brian Lay is third with Travis Philo and defending track champion Craig Mintz rounding out the top five.
Things are much tighter in the Summit Racing Equipment UMP Late Model point standings. Jeff Babcock leads Ryan Markham by a scant five markers. Mike Bores, Devin Shiels and Matt Irey round out the top five.
Jordan Ryan’s consistent top five finishes has him atop the standings in the Foster Auto Body 305 Sprints with defending champion Nate Dussel just 69 points back. Steve Rando, John Ivy and Jason Keckler round out the top five.
In the Fremont Fence Dirt Trucks, early this season it looked to be a Shawn Valenti run-away. However, lately the rest of the pack has begun to close with Kyle Line just 78 points back. Matt Foos, former champion Art Ball and defending champion Dustin Keegan round out the top five.
The Attica Ambush will wrap up the track’s season on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 29 and 30. Detroit Chocolat Night on Friday will feature the Lucas Oil Late Model Series gunning for $10,000 to win while the University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions will also be in competition for $3,000 to win.
On the Baumann Auto Group Night Saturday, the UNOH All Stars will battle for $5,000 to win with the late models in action for $1,500 to win as part of the Attica-Wayne County Late Model Challenge Series. The 305 sprints and dirt trucks will also be in competition Saturday.
