Conneaut, OH (June 27, 2014): The Zimmer Service Center Economods were the featured class racing for $500 to win their feature. A beautiful evening greeted fans and drivers for the event that saw two track records broken in heat races. At the end of the 20-lap Zimmer Service Center Economods feature it was Steve Burns winning the $500, his second win of the season. During heat action last week’s winner Rick Prosser lowered the Economod track record to 19.900 seconds on his second lap the dropped it to 19.864 on lap five.

During his heat Michael lowered the track record for the E-Mods to 18.590 seconds. 2009 Evergreen Lake Park Campground Crate Late Models champion Dennis Lunger won his second feature of the season. Shaun Fawcett got to the Winner’s Circle for the first time in 2014 while 2012 champion Bud Sergeff got his second win of the season.

Josh McDonald started on the pole of the Bonnell Collision Center E-Mods feature with his father, Dan, starting to his right. After setting a new track record of 18.590 in his heat Rich Michael started inside row two. The younger McDonald led from the start with Michael coming to second by turn two. At lap three it was McDonald just a bumper ahead at the line but a lap later Michael had a big lead and Dan McDonald was second. At five laps in when yellow flew for Amanda Stiffler’s spin on turn one. Fifth starting Joel Watson, the defending champion, was up to third for the restart. Dan McDonald hooked a rut in turn one on lap eight allowing Watson to get by on the low side. At halfway it was Michael, Watson, Dan McDonald, last week’s winner Gary Eicher, and 2009 Champion Percy McDonald filling out the top five. Eicher got by McDonald at lap thirteen for third. Stiffler again looped her mount, again in turn one, at lap sixteen, slowing the field for the second time. Brothers Percy and Dan McDonald fought over fourth toward the end of the event with Percy winning this round. At the stripe it was Michael over Watson, Eicher, Percy McDonald, and Dan McDonald.

The featured class of the night was the Zimmer Service Center Economods with early season winners Steve Burns and Josh Mueller on the front row. Burns took the lead at the start with Alan Atkinson coming to second and Mueller third through the early laps. Eric Reinwald came to third at lap four but slipped back a lap later. At eight laps in, Atkinson was battling Burns for the top spot. At nine laps Steinle Sr dropped a driveshaft in turn one, slowing the event for the first time. Green only lasted to the first turn when four cars piled up in turn one again slowing the race. Caution number three came on the first lap after green at the halfway point when Mueller spun in turn four. Reinwald came to second at the restart but Burns was on a rail through the turns. Jodi Woodworth looped it in turn four at lap fifteen setting up a five lap dash for the win with the order being Burns, Reinwald, Atkinson, Brandon Blackshear, and Russ Kapalin. Blackshear came to third with three laps left. Then the yellow again was out when Devin Henry spun his mount in turn two. Blackshear made several attempts to get by Reinwald for second over the final laps but Burns held on for the win over Reinwald, Blackshear, Atkinson, and Russ Kapalin.

Former champion Dennis Lunger on the inside, and Kyle Zimmerman on the outside, led the Evergreen Lake Park Campground Crate Late Models to the green flag with Lunger leading the way over Zimmerman. Lap six saw the first caution when Kevin Hill spun his mount in turn two. On the restart Jorden Peters slammed the front wall. Lunger led again after green until caution at lap eight when Billy Henry spun in turn two. At halfway Lunger led Zimmerman, Darrell Bossard, Latta, and defending champion Chad Wright. Bob Pifer and Wendell Pinckney both spun one lap past halfway. Latta and Bossard were running side by side at lap fourteen then Wright joined the joust with Latta coming to third and Wright fourth by the two lap to go signal. With the white flag flying Breyton Santee looped his car in turn four setting up a one-lap dash to the checkers. The last lap was all Lunger as he drove to his second win of the season over Zimmerman, Latta, Wright, and Bossard.

The Campbell’s Mini-Storage Street Stocks feature had Eric Harvey and Shaun Fawcett on the front row. After a lap one caution Fawcett led the opening lap with Harvey second. Former champion Ed Bolyard came to second at lap two and defending champion Chris Withers was third when caution appeared on lap nine when pole sitter Harvey spun in turn one. Withers got by Bolyard at the green and set out to catch Fawcett then Bolyard retired a lap later with mechanical ails. Fawcett went on to his first win of the season over Withers, Jimmy Kennerknecht, Kenny Lamp, and Ron Boardman.

Former champion Bud Sergeff took the lead from pole sitter Scott Gill at the green flag for the Specialty Products Mini Stocks with seventh starting Dale Fraschetti coming to third. Debris in the form of a radiator laying on the track slowed the event at lap four then Fraschetti quickly came to second at the resumption of racing. At seven laps complete Carlos Aponte was third when Jeannie Fowler and Alex Forbes got together on the front straight. Aponte came to second on the first lap after green was shown.
