4 Big Events In 4 Days For Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
6 min readWAYCROSS, GA (June 27, 2014) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series prepares for a huge week of racing to celebrate the July 4th Holiday week with four single day events at four different venues. The premier national tour for super late models will start off the week of racing in Markleysburg, PA at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on Wednesday, July 2nd. The stars and cars of the LOLMDS will battle some of the top northeast local and regional racers for a chance to win the $10,000 first place prize. There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a 50-lap feature event. The RUSH Pro-Late Models and Street Stocks will run as support classes at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. Pit gates open at 3 PM with general admission opening at 4 PM. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will then travel to Zanesville, OH on Thursday, July 3rd for the running of the “Creno’s 50” at Muskingum County Speedway. This annual event at Muskingum will also include a huge fireworks display during the event. The stars and cars of the LOLMDS will battle for another $10,000 to win top prize against some of the area’s toughest competition. There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a 50-lap feature event. Support classes running at Muskingum County Speedway include 4-cyclinders, pure stocks and open wheel modifieds. Pit Gates open at 12 Noon with general admission gates opening at 2 PM. The series will then travel south in the state of Ohio on Friday July, 4th and visit Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for another $10,000 to Win 50-Lap feature event. There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a 50-lap feature event. Support classes running at Portsmouth Raceway Park include Limited Late Models and Open Wheel Modifieds. Pit Gates open at 2 PM with general admission gates opening at 4 PM. The fourth and final leg of the trip will see the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series make its first ever visit to 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY for the running of the “Hatfield and McCoy Feuding 50”. There will be a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Miller Welders Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and a 50-lap feature event paying $10,000 to Win. Bomber division will run as the support class at 201 Speedway. Pit Gates open at 3 PM and general admission gates opening at 3 PM also. Don O’Neal, will lead the LOLMDS stars into this big week of racing with the lead in the series championship point standings over three-time and reigning LOLMDS National Champion, Jimmy Owens. Scott Bloomquist has climbed up to third in the chase for the LOLMDS National Championship, followed by Steve Francis, Earl Pearson Jr., Eddie Carrier Jr., Jared Landers, John Blankenship, Dennis Erb Jr., and Jason Hughes rounds out the top ten in the series championship point standings.
Jason Hughes holds a slim lead over Jason Papich in the chase for the 2014 Dunn-Benson Rookie of the Year title. Both rookie drivers continue to improve each week, as they compete at new tracks for the first time this year on the series.
