Southern Ohio Speedway June 20th Preview
3 min readWHEELERSBURG, OH-The Southern Ohio Speedway will be in action this Friday, June 20th for a big night of
racing with “Meet the Drivers Night.” The exciting racing card will feature Super Late Models-$3,000 to win, Modifieds-$800 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods-$500 to win, and Bombers.
Meet the Drivers Night Activities
During intermission, all of the race cars will be brought onto the frontstretch and fans will be allowed onto the track for a 30 minute meet and greet session with their favorite drivers. This is a favorite among the fans and drivers both.
Super Late Model Preview
Super Late Models are back on the racing card for a $3,000 to win, $200 to start special on Friday. The $3,000 to win shows at SOS have always produced strong fields and some incredible racing. Jackie Boggs has won the past two $3,000 to win Super Late Model events at SOS and will be looking to carry that momentum into another win on Friday. Last season, R. J. Conley took the win on Meet the Drivers Night and will be looking for another win on Friday. Conley has won a race at SOS every season since the track has been reopened. One thing is for sure, the action will be very exciting in the Super Late Model division on Friday.
Modified Preview
The Modified action at SOS this season has been incredible. So far, two time defending track champion Jeremy Rayburn has been tough to beat as he has won two of the first three feature events of the season. Ironton, Ohio’s Brian Skaggs is the only other driver to of taken a Modified feature win this season. 2011 track champion Adam Colley has been strong this season with some top five runs as well. It will be a great show on Friday in the Modified division with $800 on the line!
GCP Engines Sport Mod Preview
Friday will be the biggest GCP Engines Sport Mod race of the season with $500 on the line to the winner. Emily Jordan has been the story this year in the Sport Mods as she has won three of the first four races of the season. Those wins have not came easy as Tony Whitt Jr., Tony Whitt Sr., Danny Hamilton, Eric Dennison, Jimmy Spillman, and many others have been right in contention every week. Whitt Jr. is the only driver other than Jordan to of taken a feature win in the Sport Mods this season. The GCP Engines Sport Mod always put on exciting racing and that can be expected on Friday!
Bomber Preview
For the first time since 2011, Bombers will return to the Southern Ohio Speedway. The class always produces close, exciting racing. The Bombers will race under Portsmouth Raceway Park rules and will use a car count based purse. Here is the purse structure for the Bombers on Friday:

Times and Admission Prices
Gates will open at 4:00 pm on Friday with hot laps starting the nights action at 7:30 pm. General admission is $15 for ages 17 and up, $5 for ages 13-16, $2 for ages 7-12, and free for ages 6 and under.
