Southern Ohio Speedway Announces 2014 Opening Dates

WHEELERSBURG, OH-The Southern Ohio Speedway is proud to announce it’s 2014 opening dates. The 2014 season will open earlier than any previous season and will feature a brand new event in the season opening events.

The first on track event of the 2014 season will be the “1st Annual Cabin Fever Bash Enduro” on Saturday, March 8th. This event will be ran just like the annual season ending “Fall Havoc Enduro” and feature hot laps, time trials, dash and heat races, and The Main Event for the Enduro cars. Gates will open at 11:00 am with hot laps at 1:00 pm. General admission will be $5 with pit passes $10 and the Enduro car entry fee $20.

“We feel like the Cabin Fever Bash Enduro will be a great way to kick off the on track action in 2014″, stated SOS co-promoter T. J. Layne. “Everybody is always anxious to get back out to the track in late winter/early spring. We feel like early March is too early to start putting regular race cars on the track, so having the Cabin Fever Bash Enduro works perfect. These Enduro events are a lot of fun and always have a great turnout. It will give race fans some real early season action and the laps on the track in the Enduro will help us with the track surface.”

The track will sit idle on March 15th and resume action on Saturday, March 22nd for Test N’ Tune #1 and continue action on Saturday, March 29th for Test N’ Tune #2. The two pre-season Test N’ Tune’s give drivers an opportunity to get practice laps before the official start of the season. For drivers with new cars and new drivers getting into the sport, the Test N’ Tune’s are very important. Gates will open at 11:00 am for both Test N’ Tune’s with open practice from noon until 6:00 pm.

The 2014 season will officially get underway on Friday, April 4th with the “Opening Night” races. SOS officials are currently working on putting together the racing card and purses for Opening Night as they look at determining whether Opening Night will be a special event or weekly racing program. Opening Night details will be released shortly.

SOS officials are also working on finalizing the 2014 schedule and plan on releasing it before Christmas. The track is looking forward to an excellent, full season of racing in 2014.
