ROSSBURG, OH (Sept. 29) – Opening the door for more faces on Eldora Speedway’s revered victory stage, Thursday and Friday (October 3 & 4) night’s opening legs of the UMP DIRTcar National Championships will each see 96 Modified drivers lined up into one of four 24-car A-feature events. Each of the unprecedented four nightly main events will reward the winner with a $1,000 pay day and valuable national UMP DIRTcar points will be up for grabs.
The unique format calls for the field to be split into eight groups; with each group’s heat races determined through multi-car time trials. Drivers finishing 1-9 will line up into an A-Feature, with the balance of the field relegated to a B-Feature, which will see an additional six drivers advancing. Heats 1 and 2 will determine the first B and A-features, heats 3 and 4, the second, and so on.
More importantly, the finishes from the two preliminary nights will be used to determine positioning in Saturday’s alphabet soup of features that culminates with a 25-lap, $5,000 to win finale. The course of the weekend could shake up not only the UMP DIRTcar national point chase, but the Eldora points race as well.
Joining the Modifieds and their quest for the National championship on Saturday will be the UMP DIRTcar Late Models in a $5,000 to win, single day program.
Complete event and ticket purchase details, only $10 Thursday and Friday and $20 on Saturday, may be found at the track’s website, www.EldoraSpeedway.com.
