Huge Labor Day Weekend of Racing up Next for LOLMDS

WAYCROSS, GA (August 28, 2013) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is gearing up for a huge weekend of racing with three big events scheduled for the Labor Day weekend with over $175,000 in prize money up for grabs. The series will make its first ever visit to Attica Raceway Park in Attica, OH this Friday August 30th. The Rex LeJeune promoted facility will host the LOLMDS for the first time with a 50-Lap $10,000 to win feature event Friday night. The All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series will run as a support class on Friday as well paying $3,000 to win their feature event. Activities on Friday night will include LOLMDS Hot-Laps, RED BUCK Time Trials, LOLMDS Heat Races, B-Mains and the 50-lap feature event. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will then travel to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH for the Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble on Saturday August 31st. This year’s event will pay $15,000 to the winner of the 50-lap feature event. The Donna Rayburn promoted facility is located on the Ohio River with camping sites available for this special event. Activities on Saturday will include LOLMDS Hot-Laps, RED BUCK Time Trials, LOLMDS Heat Races and B-mains and the 50-lap main event. Then, on Sunday September 1st, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the nation’s oldest dirt late model event the 45th Annual Hillbilly 100 at I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, WV. Famed promoter Carl Short has partnered with Kenney Newhouse to promote this one day crown-jewel event that will pay a whopping $25,000 to the winner The tradition and history of The Hillbilly 100 will continue in the state of WV on Sunday along with this event being a part of the ASi Crown Jewel Cup –Presented by DirtonDirt.com. Drivers will be racing for valuable points at this event that apply to the Crown Jewel Cup and the $10,000 bonus at the series year end banquet. Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN stormed through the field from his 24th starting position and won last year’s event in dramatic fashion. The 2013 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is in one of the most competitive years in the history of the series with fifteen (15) different drivers winning at least one series event in 2013. Eight (8) drivers in the top ten in the series point’s standings have won at least one event in 2013. Reigning Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion and current point’s leader, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN will lead the stars and cars of the series into this weekend’s events. Owens leads Steve Francis by a mere 50 points in the chase for the LOLMDS national championship and the $75,000 first place prize. Following Francis are John Blankenship of Williamson, WV, Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN and Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL who round out the current top five in the series point’s standings. Sixth through tenth in the standings are ;Dennis Erb of Carpentersville, IL, Jared Landers of Batesville, AR, Eddie Carrier Jr of Salt Rock, WV, Billy Moyer Jr of Batesville, AR and Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN. Billy Moyer Jr. leads the chase for the JRi Shocks Rookie of the Year-Presented by Dunn-Benson Ford.
