Conneaut, OH, (August 21, 2013): As the 2013 racing season winds down the points battles at Raceway 7 are nearly all decided. Four of the five divisions are nearly locked up but the Specialty Products Mini-Stock championship mantle will possibly go down to the wire. Fireworks by Gibson will light the sky at intermission.
Chad Wright leads the Evergreen lake Park Campground FASTRAK Late Models with a huge 163 point margin over Kyle Zimmerman. Wright merely must appear at each of the last two nights to bag his first-ever Raceway 7 championship. However, the rest of the top ten in the standings is up for grabs as Dave Airgood only trails Zimmerman by ten points. Zimmerman has yet to win a feature this summer while Airgood has made it to Victory Lane. Only 26 points separate Airgood from fourth running Jamie Brown, who in turn has only a ten-point edge over former champion Max Blair. Although 163 points separate the top two, only 150 separate the rest of the top ten!
The points race for the Bonnell Collision Center E-Mods shows defending champion Joel Watson leading Mike Potosky by 83-markers with only two weeks remaining in the season. Watson has several wins on the season while neither Potosky nor third-running Percy McDonald, the 2009 champion, has yet visited the Winner’s Circle. Rich Michael, competing on a limited schedule, is the big winner this season with four triumphs, including the three most recent events, including the prestigious Chris Clinger Memorial, where Michael came from tenth of the starting grid.
Former champion Chris Withers nearly has a lock on the Western Reserve Animal Clinic Street Stock championship with a 145 point lead over former champion Ed Bolyard. Withers has six wins on the season. Bolyard has also driven into Victory Lane this season, on May 17.
Brian Hathaway leads the McDonalds Meat Economods with an 82 points lead over the veteran Chuck Steinle Sr. Young Kyle Fellows, Showing improvement every week, is now third, only 9 points in arrears of Steinle. Early season leader Russ Kapalin is fourth with young Casey Bowers fifth.
The Specialty Products Mini Stocks are being led by Brad Cole, with a 31-point advantage over second running Dale Fraschetti, a rookie. Cole has two wins on the year while Fraschetti, with four heat race wins, has yet to break into the feature race Victory Lane. Bud Sergeff the reigning champion, sets third, 12 points back of Fraschetti. Jason Easler, a one-time winner this season, is fourth with Mitch Stokes fifth.
