Delmas Conley leads Joe Ramey at SOS

WHEELERSBURG, OH-It is just about time for the second biggest race of the season at the Southern Ohio Speedway, the “3rd Annual Southern 50″ which will pay Late Models $6,000 to win.  Also on the racing card is Modifieds-$800 to win, GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars, Pure Stocks, and Enduros.

Southern 50 History
The Southern 50 is an annual event that has been held at SOS ever since the track reopened in 2011.  The first running of the event was a Labor Day weekend race and was won by Jackie Boggs.  The following season, the event was moved to early spring and was won by Eddie Carrier Jr.  This season, the event moves to Independence Day weekend.  The event has averaged a car count of 32 Late Models with many of the sports best competing in this event.

Late Model Preview
The racing is sure to be nothing short of incredible on Friday with $6,000 on the line.  Every single Late Model race this season has produced incredible action with tight battles for the lead each race.  We have had 6 different winners in 7 Late Model races and lead changes in all but two of the races.  Two of those seven races have featured last lap passes.

It will be very interesting to see who will grab the $6,000 feature win on Friday.  Jackie Boggs is riding momentum with two wins in a row and is a past champion of the race.  Points leader R. J. Conley has one win on the season and has been in the mix every week, he will be tough as well.  Jason Montgomery has one feature win on the season and finished second in the $3,000 to win Southern Showdown.  Will one of the out of town drivers come in and take the feature win?

Track officials have made this race attractive to Late Model race teams on any budget.  While the race boasts a strong A-Main purse of $6,000 to win and $300 to start, drivers who start the B-Main but do not transfer into the A-Main will earn $100.  There are no additional entry fees to race teams except for the $32 pit passes.

The race will be ran under an open tire rule but tires will be checked for chemical alterations.  A hot pit will be utilized in the feature only to change flat tires only.

Modified Preview
More money will also be on the line in the Modified division as they will race for $800 to win and $115 to start.  The Modifieds have put on great racing all season long and are sure to put on a great show Friday.  Jeremy Rayburn is riding momentum as he has two feature wins in a row while Todd Robinson has finished second the past two races in a row.  Doug Adkins and Joey Kramer also have two feature wins each on the season.  A great show is expected on Friday!

GCP Engines Sport Mod Preview
The Sport Mod division has had the highest car counts of any class this season and is expected to put on a great show Friday.  Danny Hamilton has three wins on the season while Eric Dennision has two wins and Tony Whitt Sr. and Tony Whitt Jr. have won win each.  Will one of those drivers repeat or will we see a fifth different winner on Friday?

Pure Stock Preview
The Pure Stocks will be back on the racing card once again on Friday.  A few more cars are expected to compete in this class Friday.

Enduro Preview
After the racing program is complete, we will run our first race for the weekly Enduro class.  The class will run a 20 lap feature that will pay $150 to win, $75 for second, and $50 for third.  The Enduros always put on great racing as this is sure to be an exciting race.
