WHEELERSBURG, OH-The Southern Ohio Speedway will return to action on Friday, June 28th for “Family Fun Night” featuring an exciting racing card of Steel Block Late Models, Modifieds, GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars, Pure Stocks, Bombers, and Enduros.  In addition to the exciting racing, we will bring all cars on the frontstretch during intermission and give race fans the opportunity to come on track and meet their favorite drivers.  Please note that we will be having a Late Model “Meet the Drivers Night” on July 19th.

Steel Block Late Model Preview
The Steel Block Late Models always put on an exciting show when they come to Southern Ohio Speedway.  In three Steel Block Late Model races in the new-era of SOS, there have been three different winners.  Those winners were Jeff Arnold, John Melvin, and Robbie Lewis.  The track has an average of 16 Steel Block Late Models for the three shows that have been held.  The Steel Block Late Models will time trial and will the same format as the regular Late Models run at SOS, meaning we will do a 6 car dash race with 12 or more cars in attendance.

The class will have a hard tire rule to keep the rules close to Portsmouth Raceway Park. All cars must run Hoosier 1600’s, Hoosier LM 40, Hoosier WRS 55, or American Racer MD 56 on both rear tires. The front tires are open.  Drivers may click HERE to view the Steel Block Late Model payout for June 28th.

Modified Preview
The Modified division has been putting on excellent racing all season long.  The last two weeks have belonged to Jeremy Rayburn as he has taken two feature wins in a row.  Todd Robinson has also been very fast, finishing second the past two weeks.  Doug Adkins and Brian Skaggs also posted top five finishes last week to continue the excellent seasons they have been having.  With lots of area tracks off on the June 28-29 weekend, there should be an excellent field of Modifieds in attendance.

GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars
Tony Whitt Sr. became the fourth different driver to win a feature in the GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars this season back on June 14th.  This class has produced excellent racing all season long.  14 year old Colten Wright led several laps back on June 14th as he looks to surpass Tony Whitt Jr. as the youngest driver to win a Sport Mod race at SOS.  14 year old female driver Brianna Robinson ran up front all night last week and is looking to become the first female driver to take a feature win.  It is sure to be an exciting night of racing in the Sport Mods on June 28th.

Pure Stock Preview
The Pure Stocks will be back in action again on June 28th.  The last race the track allowed a few Enduro cars to run with the two Pure Stocks in attendance.  This will no longer be allowed.  4 cylinder cars will also not be allowed.  The only cars that will be allowed to compete are Pure Stock cars.

Bomber Preview
For the first time since 2011, the Bombers will return to Southern Ohio Speedway on June 28th.  The class will run under Portsmouth Raceway Park rules.  Frankfort, Ohio’s Conard Newman won every race held in this class back in 2011.  The class will run under a car count based purse that pays $300 to win with 10 or less cars, $350 to win with 11-15 cars, and $400 to win with 16 or more cars.  Drivers can click HERE to view the complete payout breakdowns.  This class puts on exciting racing each and every week at PRP and is expected to put on a great show on the 28th.

Enduro Preview
The tracks weekly Enduro class will debut on June 28th.  This class puts on really exciting racing action and provides people with an affordable way to get behind the drivers seat.  The class will not hit the track until the end of the night when they will run a 20 lap feature that will pay $150 to win, $75 for second, and $50 for third.  The track will be wetted down prior to their 20 lap feature to slow speeds down.

Meet the Drivers Night Activities
During intermission, we will bring all the cars in attendance out on the frontstretch and allow the fans to come on track for a quick meet and greet with their favorite drivers.  This is an excellent way for race fans who don’t normally purchase pit passes to get to personally talk to the drivers.  Please note that since the Late Model division is not running on June 28th that we will have a Late Model Meet the Drivers Night on July 19th.

Gates will open at 4:00 pm with hot laps starting the nights racing action at 7:30 pm.  General admission is only $8 (ages 17 and up), $5 (ages 13-16), $2 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).  Pit passes are $25 (ages 13 and up), $15 (ages 7-12), and free (ages 6 and under).  For more information visit www.southernohiospeedway.com.
