Southern Ohio Speedway May 31 Preview
3 min readWHEELERSBURG, OH-On the racing card at the Southern Ohio Speedway this Friday, May 31st will be “Fan and Driver Appreciation Night.” The racing card will feature Late Models, Modifieds, GCP Engines Sport Mods presented by Tomahawk Race Cars, and Pure Stocks. The big thing about this night will be decreased admission prices and giveaways for the fans and drivers. Adult general admission for Friday is only $10 while adult pit passes are only $22. With the exciting racing action that has been seen this season, this is a great deal for the fans.
Fan and Driver Apprecation Night Giveaways
There will be many giveaways for both the fans and drivers on Friday. For the race fans, Bradley Racing Apparrel will be donating four $25 cash prizes that will be given to the fans. The track will also be giving away some one race passes and hats/t-shirts. For the race teams, we will be giving a free pit pass to one driver in each class. All giveaways will be given away by a random draw.
Late Model Preview
The competition this season in the Late Model division has been absolutely incredible. In six Late Model races, we have had six different winners! Those six races have seen a combined total of 11 lead changes. 5 of the 6 Late Model features this year have had lead changes. 2 of the 6 have seen the final lead change occur on the final lap. 5 of the 6 LM features have seen the final lead change occur within the last 10 laps of the race; 3 of those within the final 5 laps.
Grayson, Kentucky’s Jackie Boggs took the feature win last weekend. Can Boggs win his second feature in a row on Friday and become the first repeat winner of the season? Two time track champion R. J. Conley goes into Friday as the current Late Model points leader. Can Conley visit victory lane for the second time this season? How about West Virginia driver Steve Lucas? Lucas led the first 19 laps of last Friday’s A-Main, can Lucas get his first SOS win? We will find out on Friday.
Modified Preview
Doug “The Buzzard” Adkins won a very exciting Modified feature last weekend. Adkins has been fast this year, claiming two feature wins and moving into second in points. Last year’s track champion Jeremy Rayburn finished second on Friday and battled for the lead with Adkins all race long. Will Rayburn claim his first victory of 2013 on Friday? Can Adkins win his second feature in a row? How about 2011 track champion Adam Colley? Colley finished third last week and will be chasing his first win of 2013 on Friday. Should be another great show!
GCP Engines Sport Mod presented by Tomahawk Race Cars Preview
Danny Hamilton claimed his third win of the season last Friday in the Sport Mod division, winning $400 in the “Robinson’s Auto Sales & Parts Sport Mod Championships.” With a second place finish last week, last years track champion Eric Dennison moved up to second in points with Colten Wright third, Josh Tibbs fourth, and Mike Newton in fifth. It was another great feature last Friday in the Sport Mods, who will win this week?
Pure Stock Preview
Barry Brisker claimed an impressive fifth victory last week in the Pure Stock division. Can Brisker remain perfect on the year and win again this Friday?
Times and Admission Prices
Gates will open on Friday at 4:00 pm with hot laps scheduled for 7:30 pm. General admission is $10 for ages 17 and up, $5 for ages 13-16, $2 for ages 7-12, and free for ages 6 and under.
