Elkins Raceway Ready For Friday Night Thunder

Spring is in the air, and that can only mean one thing, the Elkins Raceway is getting ready for the 2013 racing season.

The Kerens facility will enter it’s third year under Norman McDougal as Track Lease Holder, Jim Skidmore as Track Manager. The classes this year will be the Jenkins Ford Super Late Models, the Budweiser FASTRAK Crate Motor Late Models, the Fast ‘N Friendly Pharmacy Modifieds, the Miller’s Used Cars Street Stock and Darren’s Pizza Mini Wedges. The Good Samaritan of Barbour County Mod Lite’s will be the new class this year.

With arguably the best schedule in many years, the 3/8 mile oval highlights include, the Jenkins Ford Super Late Model’s 1st event with Hunter’s Haven paying $2,000 to win May 31st. Then June 28th and 29th is the Stars and Stripes Weekend Celebration featuring the J C Distributing 25th Annual R H Armstrong Memorial Topless Twin 25’s paying $2,000 to win for the first race and $3,000 for the second. The second race, the field will be inverted, plus $250 Hard Charger Bounty if the same driver wins both races. Friday’s portion of the show will feature the areas first big fireworks display of the season. The Budweiser All Star Memorial kicks off with the 3rd annual Jim Hitt Memorial on July 19th for a $5,000 paycheck with $300 to start, Then the next night, July 20th, the 3rd annual Richard Skidmore Memorial has a $10,000 check awaiting the winner and $500 to start. And Finally, We are working hand in hand with World of Outlaws to make their debut at the track with $10,000 up for grabs, in the 1st ever Elkins Raceway “Moonshiner” on August 23. (this date is tentative)

The Budweiser FASTRAK Series will have the Schaeffer Oil $2,000 to win plus $500 in tools from Snap On on June 7th. Also, there is a $2,000 to win show with the World of Outlaws on August 23rd.(this date is tentative) Other FASTRAK specials are June 29th and July 19th for $1,000 each, then July 20th paying $1,500 to the winner.

The Fast ‘N Friendly Pharmacy Modifieds are spotlighted June 21 and July 20 for $1,000 to win. With a pair of $750 prizes June 29 and July 19.

The Miller’s Used Cars Street Stocks vie for a $500 to win Street Stock Special on May 24th. Then on August 9th, $500 to win plus $500 tools from Snap On. Other specials include, $500 to win on June 29th, July 19th and 20th. Finally a $1,000 to win with the “Run What You Brung” Steet Stock Special on August 23 (also tentative)

The new kids on the block, the Good Samaritan of Barbour County Mod Lites battle for $500 May 17th sponsored by Ryan’s Repair, 31st sponsored by Eastern Hose, June 14th sponsored by Andy’s Heating, July 19th sponsored by Newlon’s International, August 2nd sponsored by Corridor H Tire, and 16th sponsored by Stewart Sanitation. With a couple of $750 paydays June 29th sponsored by Harris Construction and American Garage Door and July 20th sponsored by Gutterworks and Karen Bialek Insurance.
