(Middlebourne, WV) Although mother nature won the scheduled opening weekend for the sophomore season of the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour racers won’t have to wait long to kick-off the long awaited 2013 season. The tour is locked and loaded to fight back with a ferocious pair of $2k ‘punches’ to ensure the highly anticipated season gets underway on Saturday and Sunday, April 20th & 21st. After dreadful forecasts called for extremely cold conditions that later halted the excitement built up for last weekend’s “Monster Modified Weekend”, tour participant’s are now beginning to salivate for the chance to dig into Renegade of Dirt action. To their delight will await a duo of Renegade shows featuring a generous driver friendly $2000 to win, $200 to start this weekend. Anxious race fans who geared up for the tours scheduled appearance to the Buckeye State can also breath a sigh of relief as just over five days separate them from the intense 2013 debut of the open wheel businesses best from over five states announcing their intent to be part of the huge weekend.

When the work week is over participants and spectators will travel to Millersburg, OH and mount their machines for a chance at being crowned the 2013 “King of the Hill” at the Hilltop Speedway on Saturday April 20th. As race fans pour in to the speedway for the first visit of 2013 by the elite stars and cars of the Renegades of Dirt Tour they will be witness to over 40 of the regions finest modified hotshoes as they battle it out for the two-thousand dollar top prize and the inaugural ‘Crown’. In addition to the fine roster of the Renegades of Dirt their will also be a very familiar face in the pits participating for the first time with the tour in it’s short history, as well as a first time visitor to the Hilltop Speedway. Former NASCAR Sprint Cup racer Kenny Schrader will be in action wheeling his own famous Federated Auto Parts #9 EDGE open wheel modified.

For over forty years the veteran racer has competed at all levels and is no stranger to dirt ovals across America which he frequents during spare time away from his asphalt racing program. Throughout his career, Schrader has been successful at every level of racing in which he has competed, including 27 years as a NASCAR Sprint Cup driver. Schrader’s race records read like a who’s who – you may think you are reading about several drivers’ careers, when in fact, all the records belong to him! From USAC, ARCA and just about every series within NASCAR, and on dirt, Schrader’s accomplishments are chronicled in the record books! “I am excited to visit the Hilltop Speedway this weekend, the small venue dirt tracks are where I feel most at home and to run with the talented racers on the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour it will be a lot of fun” stated, Schrader.

“We are certainly looking forward to opening our pit area up to the area’s best modifieds and Ken Schrader to put on a show for our race fans.” stated, Jesse Wardell. “Not often do you have a guy like Kenny in your pits, we hope that our fans will enjoy his presence and support his appearance at the speedway” added, Wardell. “The Renegades put on an excellent show both times they were here in 2012 and we anticipate much of the same great action this weekend” concluded, Wardell.

Only one question remains when racing gets underway at the high-banked 3/8 mile dirt oval this Saturday night, can Kenny contend for the win with the talented line-up of ‘Renegades’, steal the cash, the crown, and the 2013 Renegade season opener or will the weekly and regional contingent prove to be to more than he bargained for? Find out when on track activities gets underway at 5:00pm with hotlaps and racing action at 6:30. Race fans can purchase their tickets at the general admission gates for just $15.00 and at the pit window for just $30.00, children under twelve admitted free of charge. Renegade racers will look to provide a true display of speed and power as they duel it out for the second two-thousand dollar top prize during the weekend and make their respective home state proud. Last year North Carolina native Kyle Strickler claimed the Dirtwarz title for the Tar Heel state as he held back strong challenges from 2012 champion Bobby Kitchens after overtaking Nick Hoffman for the lead.

This year participants will be showcasing their talent to a large crowd expected to be on hand to witness the tour compete as the under card to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the first time in it’s history. The Lucas Oil sponsored national tour features the likes of the best in the business including Bloomquist, O’Neal, Owens, Francis, Pierce, Blankenship, Pearson, and many more will make their one and only trip to the WVMS as they duke it out with regional competitors for the $10,000 payday. Racing action is set to get underway at 6:00pm with hotlaps and spectator gates opening at 2:00pm. There will also be an open practice at the WVMS this Wednesday night beginning at 6:00pm for anyone looking to shake down their cars for the first time or turn some laps on the new surface.

“We are excited to get 2013 going on the new surface, we promoted a few shows at the end of 2012 and were extremely pleased with how the new configuration went and the reviews from our drivers and fans” stated WVMS co-promoter, Brian Ferrell.

“After sitting idol since 2010 it was nice to see life at the ‘Speedplant’ again and be able to utilize this winter to plan and promote a full schedule events at the speedway” added, Ferrell. “The Lucas Oil Late Models and Renegade of Dirt Modifieds are the perfect way to get our season underway. Although we are anticipating a full pit area we want to remind our fans that we will work to move the show along and ensure a quick night for many who will have to work on Monday morning” concluded, Ferrell.
