Hometown Racing Association To Lease Tyler County

(Middlebourne, WV) The newly formed Hometown Racing Association is pleased to announce an agreement has been reached to lease and promote the Tyler County Speedway for the 2013 season.

The Tyler County Fair Association agreed to turn over operation of the ¼ mile Bullring to the Hometown Racing Association headed up by lifelong resident and former racer John Watson. Watson and the new promotional group plans to continue the long tradition of weekly Saturday-night racing.

“We look forward to providing the Bullrings die-hard fan base with a solid family fun exciting brand of racing fans and competitors of Tyler County Speedway have come to expect at the areas raciest speedway,” stated Watson.

Exciting news regarding the new Tyler County Speedway and the 2013 racing season which will see the high banked Bullring receive a much needed facelift as a new racing surface will greet anxious racers to the speedway when action gets set to begin this spring.

“We are extremely excited to offer our outstanding roster of weekly racers a brand new surface, a long overdue task will be undertaken with the help of J&R Excavating of Moundsville, WV. Over 200 loads of fresh clay will redecorate the surface of the Bullring” continued Watson.

A mid to late April opening night is planned with a full schedule to be released in the coming weeks. Watson wants to put a much needed emphasis on having a strong and efficiently run weekly program in which show quality, track maintenance, and driver appreciation are of utmost importance to the new group. Five weekly divisions will comprise the new “FANtastic 5” weekly show featuring the high powered Super Late Models, Crate Late Models, EDGE Modifieds, EDGE Hotmods and ModLites plus the MWRA Mini Wedge division will continue to kick off festivities at each and every show.

When the 39th racing season at the speedway is shown the green flag a Transponder Scoring and Timing System will also be in place. All driver’s are required to run a transponder unit in 2013 when taking part in the action at the Tyler County Speedway. “We feel like this will be a major step towards one of our goals on running a more efficient program each week. The new technology will eliminate any risk of human error while also allowing drivers to log on to dedicated websites for real-time updates which can be a useful tool for participants race night setups” added Watson. Competitors have asked for this improvement for several years and we are happy to be able to be bring this new technology to the Tyler County Speedway. The Hometown Racing Association was enticed to operate and assume control of the local speedway that holds a special place in their heart when the highly regarded speedway became available. After discussion with the fair board and other local racing personalities the Hometown Racing Association is excited about the future of the speedway and the opportunity to provide a family venue for local race fans, and participant’s to gather and enjoy spending their Saturday night’s.

“I grew up at Tyler County Speedway, it’s where I started going to races as a fan and later enjoyed competing myself so I know the history and tradition of the place and I’ve seen the great racing that has been happening there for so many years. I’m excited to have a chance to promote the track and keep the tradition of showcasing some of the best racing the entire country has to offer. Our goal is to provide a entertaining grassroots level racing program by getting back to the basics and working to build a firm foundation for future growth” stated Watson.
