UMP Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Added To ‘MEGA 100!’

Middlebourne, WV (February 17, 2018)- Officials with the Tyler County Speedway and the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series are excited to announce the national ‘AMS Tour’ will be making its first ever stop to the state and “The Bullring” located in Middlebourne, WV on May 31st – June 2nd to be a part of the 4th Annual MEGA 100 weekend.

The ‘MEGA 100’ features the best names in dirt modified racing as they battle it out for nearly $60,000 in cash. The lucrative purse and top notch pageantry make this the biggest modified weekend in the Eastern United States. Saturday night’s finale spotlights the nation’s biggest division paying out a cool $15,000.00 to the winner while all twenty-eight competitors who start the A-Main receive a healthy $700.00 to start.

Series President Jeff Crawford stated “I want to thank race officials and TCS for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of this prestigious event. Crawford continued “with our new series points format this year we’ve added flexibility to gain marquee events outside our core area of racing that will provide more exposure for our series, drivers and fans.”

Late last year, Tyler County Speedway, announced they would be operating under the 2018 UMP tire rule. This combined with our the decision of removing the spoilers for this event will allow UMP racers to support this event with little to no changes needing made.

Full weekend details are still being worked out with more information forthcoming. The event will witness the open wheel modifieds for three nights including two “Mega 100” nights of racing. On Thursday night the week will get underway with open practice for all teams as well as an invitational only 20 lap “Sanction Shootout” event. This event will invite the top 10 teams from the UEMS Mod Series, AMS Mod Series, AMRA National Series, and UMP National Series as eligible participants. Other series’ are also in the works. A full purse is being established and the race will also award a floating provisional for Saturday nights ‘MEGA 100.’

Friday night will be a prelim night for participants that features qualifying, heat races, and a pair of $1,000 to win features. Participants will accumulate points throughout the event which will be used to lock in Saturday’s positions including the top 10 spots of the A-Main. The remainder of the field will be positioned into four ‘Qualifier Mains’ on Saturday night to earn a spot in the ‘big dance.’
Saturday night will witness the four ‘qualifiers’ as well as a ‘Last Chance Showdown’. Following its conclusion their will be four race provisionals selected from a combination of series and prelim races. The twenty-eight car starting grid will then compete 50 laps for the largest East Coast pay day, $15,000.00 to win and $700.00 to start.
