Angelicchio Tops Late Model Field At Dog Hollow

STRONGSTOWN, PA (August 25, 2017) – Dan Angelicchio returned to victory lane for the second time in three weeks in the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models at Dog Hollow Speedway. In the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models, Joe Moyer won for the first time this season while Nate Smith drove to his fifth 358 Semi Late Win. Jack Theys (DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinders) and Amber Mills (AMSOIL Pure Stocks) each added another win to their victory total. This was the final point night for five of the divisions. 2017 track champions are Dave Blazavich (Super Lates), Clate Copeman (Crate Lates), Jack Theys (4 Cylinders), Amber Mills (Pure Stocks) and Dan Ferry, Jr. (358’s). The Super 6 Late Model championship will be determined next Sunday.
Just like two weeks ago, Dan Angelicchio of Mt. Pleasant, led all 25 laps of the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature. Angelicchio was destroying the field as he was about to lap the fifth place car when the only caution came out on lap 23. The battle was for the second spot as Shawn Claar took it from Randy Smithley on lap two. Dave Blazavich over powered Claar on lap 12 but by then Angelicchio was long gone. On the final restart Angelicchio took off and drove to his second win of the season. Blazavich come home second over Chuck Clise, Claar, Billy Dickson, Joe Petyak, John Over, Dwayne Taneyhill, Waco Williams and Red French. Angelicchio and Smithley were the heat winners.
When Nate Smith starts on the front row you can usually right the winners check. Smith led all 15 laps of the 358 Semi Late Feature to earn his fifth feature win of the season. The points battle between Joe Brawley and Dan FerryJr. was close and both cars were involved in an accident on lap 13. Brawley went to the pits and Ferry was able to continue. At the finish Bryan Benton, in the Carrisa Fedesco 22c, was second over Jason Mullen, Bill Burns and Dan Ferry, Jr. Smith won the lone heat.
The AMSOIL Pure Stocks saw a great battle between Mike Benton and Amber Mills. Last week’s winner Duke Davidson led the first three laps looking for a repeat. Benton snuck by on laps four with Amber Mills following. Those two ran side by side for several laps. Amber was able to power by on the outside to take the lead on laps 11. Amber pulled away the final five laps for her fourth win. Mike Benton was second ahead of Brad Benton, Alex Boozel, Duke Davidson, Mike Ball, Jim Decker, Brandie Mills, Cliff Moore and Fred Casagni. Davidson and Mike Benton won the two heats.
Joe Moyer has been close all season and Friday he put it all together. Moyer led all 20-laps enroute to the Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Model feature win. Moyer held off a strong Corey Neal. Mike Laughard, Clate Copeman, Colin Casale, Marino Angelicchio, Tim Storm, Greg Beach, Jonathan Stockdale and Jeff Compton. Taking the heat win was Corey Neal.
Jack Theys and Zack Wissinger duked it out in the DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinder feature. Wissinger tried inside and out to find a way around only to push and lose second to Chuck Dizzle. Wissinger roared back was no match for the Neon Honda beater of the Theys. Wissinger, Dizzle, Dylan Young, Donald Needham, Jamie Noel, Lance Marshall, Marc Whetstone, Jr., Craig Smith and Larry Weltz rounded out the top ten. Scoring heat wins were Theys and Dizzle.
