(Middlebourne, WV) Race fans were greeted to the Tyler County Speedway for an early Fathers Day special featuring two speedway marquee events in the Eaton/Childers King of the Ring and the Dickson Classic. A great night at the speedway as the Hometown Racing Association played host and honored past speedway legends with another stout field of 121 entries signed in to do battle.

In the Appalachian Mineral Title Company FASTRAK Late Model 16th Annual Eaton/Childers King of the Ring presented by Long Reach Federal Credit Union it was the current FASTRAK National Point Leader Henry Hornsby III of Bradley, WV picking up the $2,000 payday over a stellar 28 car FASTRAK field. Taking the ceremonial green flag from Crystal Rocchio representing the race sponsor Long Reach Federal Credit Union, the young Hornsby would charge off his front row starting spot and go virtually unchallenged on his way to his second Eaton/Childers win. Tremendous three and four wide battles waged behind the leader for the entire 30 lap distance but when the final checkered waved it was Hornsby cruising to the win with defending winner of the Eaton/Childers King of the Ring Kyle Lukon, Ryan Payne, Chuck Kimble and Zack Dohm rounding out the top five. Hornsby chauffeurs the Henry’s Radiator Shop Inc./ AAA Mini Storage/ Bradley Car Wash Longhorn Chassis. Hornsby, Chuck Kimble and Ryan Montgomery would pick up heat race wins among the strong 28 car field.

In a wild 2 Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modified 13th Annual Dickson Classic event it would be Salem, WV’s Shawn Jett adding his name to the record book. The sweltering Saturday heat would take its toll in the Dickson Classic main event as Jacob Hawkins would blast to the early lead with last weeks winner Jesse Wisecarver in tow. Two of the areas best open wheel hotshoes would go to war on the highbanks of the ‘Bullring’. Hawkins would maintain a slight lead with Wisecarver closing as both wheelmen were blistering the ‘Bullring’ cushion at the top of the speedway with surgical expertise. As Hawkins bobbled in turn two allowing Wisecarver to assume the lead down the backstretch. As the duo raced hard thru three and four both would become tangled down the frontstretch, eventually leading to a caution flag for a slowing Wisecarver. A badly damaged Wisecarver would get out of his car and show his displeasure to Hawkins on the frontstretch as the crowd came to their feet. With eventual cooler heads prevailing, the race went back to green with a new leader as Shawn Jett would inherit the lead after all the excitement. The driver of the sharp looking #1J would roll around the smooth speedway able to hold off Hawkins to secure his first Dickson Classic title as the former track champion would grab his third win of the season at the Bullring. Rounding out the top five behind Jett and Hawkins was Chad Smith, Brent Trimble and Dave Defibaugh. If the 13th Annual Dickson Classic with $1,500 on the line is any indication the excitement level for the upcoming $10,000 to win Mega 100 should be one for the ages.

In the J&R Excavating Super Late Model main event presented by Midcap Land and Timber it would be Spelter, WV’s Cody Rogers holding off four time winner Derek Doll to win his first ever feature event. Following Rogers was Doll, Baumberger and Weigle. Rogers drives the Rogers Bros. Racing/ East Coast Underground/ Eastern Services/ Amos Paving Rocket chassis.

Several outsiders would converge on the Tyler County Speedway in the Jenkins Auto Parts Modlite division to test, for the Mega 100 weekend as the Modlites will battle it out in two $1,000 to win main events. It was Laurel, Delaware’s James Hill in the James Hill Racing/Horns Machine Shop #1 picking up his first ever Tyler County Speedway feature win. Following the impressive Hill was Mitch Ward, Josh Baldwin, Sam Richards and Ryan Saffell.

Perennial feature winner Travis Thomas of Alma would pick up his third Sigler Fabrication EDGE Hotmod presented by Poske’s Performance Parts feature of the year. A great race long battle between Thomas and car builder Tom Sigler would play out like a fine symphony as the duo would race each other clean for the race entirety. Thomas would edge Sigler at the line with the tandem being followed to the stripe by Tim Pennell, Lou Ennis and Mick Baker.

Bill Tennant would celebrate Fathers Day early as the driver of the bad fast #2 machine would hold off wife April to secure the 4 Cylinder feature. Following the racing couple was Kevin Criswell, Mike Baker and Ethan Drain.

In the Gear 2 Graphics MWRA Mini Wedge division it was George Casto III taking the win in the Junior division over Keith Powell and Natalie Hibbard while Ethan McCune would pick up his second win ahead of Zooey Rennicker and Lucas Zombotti in the Senior division.
