Another season of Friday Night Thunder is ready to get underway, as Elkins Raceway prepares for the upcoming season with some anticipated changes falling into place on opening night. Friday May 5 is the planned starting evening as Raceway management will be celebrating the 65th anniversary of the track’s original activities.

Classes will remain the same as in previous years, with Super Late Models, Fastrak Semi-Lates, AMRA Modifieds, Steet Stocks, and two age groups of Mini-Mods.

Fans will see a change in admission prices, with regular-race-night tickets just $15, with pit passes $30. All increases are being passed along to the race teams; the Super-Late winner will earn $1,500, and the Fastrak winner $1,000 each week;, and all features will get an additional five laps of competition.

Several special events for each class will dot the schedule, with two of the highlights being the first Red Frederick Memorial for Super Lates on June 30 ($5200 to win for 52 laps); and the annual Skidmore Memorial Weekend on July 14-15. Lap sponsors for the Red Frederick Memorial are still being accepted; contact the chip via the Red Frederick memorial facebook page for more information on that.

The track’s Facebook page is the place to find updated information, results, schedules, and point standings. The Raceway is located 8 miles from downtown Elkins via Corridor H North, at Kerns.
