Mike Blose “FORD”ges To First Dog Hollow Win In Two Years

STRONGSTOWN, PA (April 21, 2017) – Mike Blose, of New Bethlehem, raced back in to victory lane in the Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Models for the first time since May 3, 2015. Mahaffey’s Jon Lee won the first race for the 358 Semi Lates while Mike Laughard (Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models), Kyle Smith, Jr. (AMSOIL Pure Stocks) and Eric Boozel (DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinders) all parked in victory circle on opening night for 2017.

The 2016 AMSOIL Pure Stock champion looks like the driver to beat. Smith led all 15 laps to earn the victory. Shawn Shoemaker chased him to the finish but settled for a runnerup finish over Mike Benton, Amber Mills, Curtis Guyer, Brad Benton, Chad Walter, Brian Savino, Eric Johnston and Buddy Claar. Smith also won the heat.

The Lias Tire CARS Crate Late Models were up next and it was Twin Rocks driver Mike Laughard coming home the victor. Laughard led all 20 laps but had constant pressure from Clate Copeman. Copeman, making his first start in the class, held on for second followed by Robert Cossell, Joe Moyer and Bryan Benton. Sixth through tenth were Brian Swank, Michael Duritsky, Mike Hite, Tim Storm and Jared Kane. Heats were won by Laughard and Cossell.

Late Model rookie, Jeff Sweeney, led the first three laps of the 25-lap Townsend Gas & Oil Super Late Model feature. Sweeney was over taken by Michael Lake on lap 4. Lake led until lap six. On the restart Lake was called for jumping handing the lead over to Rick Singleton. Singleton looked to have things in hand but Mike Blose reeled him in for the lead on lap 19.. Blose sped off for his first win in two years. Lake took second on the final lap from Singleton. Clate Copeman and Dwayne Taneyhill were the top five. Robby Marhefka, Jeff Sweeney, John Wayne Weaver, Rick Lias and Devin Lewis completed the top ten. Sweeney and Lake picked up heat race wins.

The new 358 Semi Late class saw former crate racer Jon Lee pass Ryan Sager on lap two and go on to take his first win in a late model car. Sager, Joe Brawley and Dan Ferry, Jr. completed the field. The heat was won by Sager.

Eric Boozel, of Mt. Union, led flag to flag to win the DM Craig Fabrication & Welding 4 Cylinders over Jack Theys. Mike Phillipson was third ahead of Pat Brehm, Zack Wissinger, Kent Leonard, Dylan Young, Adm Gee, Jamie Noel and Brady Miller. Taking win the heats were Boozel and Phillipson.
