The 2017 slate of modified specials in the Ohio Valley / Eastern United States season gets underway Saturday night at ‘The Bullring’ in Middlebourne, WV where one of dirt modifieds most esteemed events awaits. A new date showcases the 6th Annual “Let It Ride 55”, April 8th, the first time it’s moved off it’s Memorial Day date since inception in 2012.

In just six years the “Let It Ride 55” and it’s famous ‘slot machine’ has become some of the most sought after hardware for any racers trophy case. The payday, $3055, is not to shabby either for modified aces ready to take to the ¼ mile this Saturday night. The one day show boasts a guaranteed $355 for all racers starting the A-Main, as well as the opportunity to win a $500 “Gamblers Bonus” if racers wager $25 at registration.

Some of the biggest names in Eastern modified racing are expected to be on hand including 2016 Renegade of Dirt champion Jacob Hawkins, last seasons race winner Jesse Wisecarver, Hillbilly weekend victor Taylor Cook, Kyle Strickler, Shon Flanary, and many more. The talented cast will join local favorites Chad Smith, Shawn Jett, Nick Corbitt, Lance Elson, and others in the fifty five lap modified main event.

“Starting off the season with a major event should be interesting and a great race” stated Watson. “It’s fifty-five laps, $3055 to win, an unequaled award for the garage…it’s truly a can’t miss event that has everything you seek when selecting big shows” concluded Watson.

In fact, many dirt racing enthusiasts shared the same sentiment this off season when fans on Facebook page raved about the event when polled. Many fans voted the event their favorite modified race in the region including comments of being a genuine “crown jewel” among modified shows.

The Slot Machine Trophy; At five foot tall, four columns, three levels high, approximately 20lbs, topped by a 12” x 8” working toy slot machine and dressed in custom graphics the trophy is a ‘reel’ head turner. The reel when pulled spins the slot and even lights up when hitting the ‘bars or 7’s’ signifying a jackpot. Among race winners that posses a slot as past winners; Jesse Wisecarver, Tanner Wilson, Tyler Nicely, Nick Hoffman, and Rick Aukland.

Team owner JR Nolan with driver Jacob Hawkins and Tarheel state hotshoe Kyle Strickler have entered every “Let It Ride 55” but are yet to win the trophy. Both will enter the weekend as favorites and continue a storied on-track rivalry in addition to the races top stake.
