(Middlebourne, WV) A near capacity pit area welcomed some 140 plus racers to the Tyler County Speedway on Saturday Night for the Hillbilly Qualifiers, Season Championship and Sunoco Shootout. A few brief rain showers would slow the action but with all the preliminaries in the books it was time for the J&R Excavating Super Late Model feature presented by Midcap Land and Timber. A stacked field would take the green in search of the $1,200 payday and guaranteed starting spot in the Hillbilly 100. Jared Hawkins driving the Hudkins Motorsports/ Appalachian Minerals #1H would blast off and secure his second win of the season at the ‘Bullring’ in dominating fashion. Following Hawkins across the line were Shane Hitt, Tim Dohm, Mason Zeigler and Mike Benedum.

Just as the late model feature would take flagman Todd Gorrell’s checkered a steady rain would set in over the speedway forcing officials to cancel the remainder of the program. With feature fields set in the Two Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modifieds, Appalachian Oil and Gas FASTRAK late Models, Gear 2 Performance EDGE Hotmods presented by Poske Performance Parts, Chris Metz State Farm Insurance Modlites and 4 Cylinders the remainder of the Season Championship/Hillbilly Qualifier/ Sunoco Shootout program will be made up on Friday Night, Sept. 2nd. The night before the Hillbilly 100 just got a lot bigger as race fans will get to kick off the mega weekend with a five feature event program and also the $5k 20 lap Sunoco Shootout featuring 2016 super late model feature winners at the ‘Bullring’. A welcome back Hillbilly Hundred pit party featuring the band ‘Sugabuzz’ and DJ Rockin’ Rudy will also set the tone for the race crazy weekend. General admission is just $12, with children 10 and under free while all armbands from this past Saturday will be honored. No armbands can be redeemed for Hillbilly 100 tickets.

Be sure to make plans now and get your tickets for the 48th Annual Hillbilly Hundred this Labor day weekend, Sept. 3rd and 4th as the West Virginia tradition is less than two weeks away. Be a part of the oldest major late model major event in America as it returns back to the ‘Bullring’ once again.
